This was published in the Financial Times in December last year. Shows the background of Cummings's plans for a Whitehall shake-up go back to at least 2014.

I'm still gaping in disbelief and shock at just how easy it has been to completely over ride Parliamentary Democracy and all the conventions that have informed the institutions of government.

I wonder if any of our MPs will grow a backbone and do something to protect Parliament and the British public from this pair of maniacs and their associates.

No, of course another PM wouldn’t want Johnson’s favourite advisor, they all want their own chosen spads, although nobody is replacing the PM anyway.

In effect Cummings is governing the country following the advice of focus groups and he and Johnson are ignoring the Tory MPs. It is thought that Cummings believes in the adage "give the people what they want" and we will stay in power.

If Johnson goes then Cummings too. I can't believe that any PM replacing Johnson would want to keep Cummings.
