We hear tonight that Care Homes are now responsible for not following procedures, whilst that reminds me of attitudes at Number 10., are the accusations accurate?

I realise many Seniors still believe Boris and his party are Squeaky clean and perfect, whilst the majority are now accepting nobody individuals or political party is infallible.

Also more lack of foresight.

Patel has closed the borders to the very people whom the social care in this country deepened

1 in 6 working in adult social care are not British and yesterday the doors were effectively closed to them from 2021.

What is going to happen in a second wave if covid expected in winter 2021 goodness only knows.

Johnson had previously promised that he would come up with a comprehensive plan for social care.

No one believes him of course.

Not deepened but should read depend.

More or less everyone on this site wants to blame the government or Boris or Cummings or Brexit or Trump for every ill in the world. They are not perfect by any means but I say, thank goodness it wasn't Corbyn et al in charge. He'd have probably been there having cups of tea and a nice chat with the care home residents because that's his usual modus operandi to everything!

That is just ridiculous hyperbole!

At Prime Minister's Questions today Keir Starmer asked about preparations for a second wave of covid this coming winter.
Citing the report by the Academy of Medical Sciences on a potential second #COVID19 wave & its recommendations for ‘intense preparation’ throughout July & August he asked the PM if he had read it.

'I am aware of it' said Johnson.

In other words 'No, I haven't read it'

If we have a disastrous second wave this winter I trust that no Johnson supporter will try to excuse him 'because no-one could have foreseen it happening'

The whole post is ridiculous...

A hint of Trump support......thought so

I believe QQ was a UKIP supporter.

Their one and only argument in defense of the disastrous Vote Leave government is "Corbyn would have been worse"

I am not and never have been a Corbyn supporter, but I find it hard to imagine how anyone could have been worse than this pathetic incompentent Vote Leave government.

Anyone read that Failing Grayling was going to take over the chair of the Intelligence (?) and Security Committee?

Didn’t work out as Johnson/Cummings intended. They seemed to have no control over the vote and Julian Lewis will be chair instead.

varian Wed 15-Jul-20 17:47:43

Good

MaizieD Wed 15-Jul-20 17:49:19

That's excellent news, Wwmk2

Did you see the Marina Hyde piece about Grayling?

In which she coined the description of the Cabinet as the 'wallyocracy'...

Not a lot of class about Johnson is there?

Today at PMQs he responded to a question about bereaved families with a joke about men’s underwear.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 15-Jul-20 18:23:29

Patel was questioned about her work today by Yvette Cooper.

She was asked about the level of people arriving in the U.K. with the covid 19 Virus.

Patel was clueless. Yvette wiped the floor with her it was beyond embarrassing.

“All countries have their share of stupid people. What’s different about this one is that they have formed a government.”

A least voters in the USA should have the opportunity to fire Trump later this year. It is unlikely that we will have the chance to get rid of our incompetent government for years.

Galaxy Wed 15-Jul-20 19:16:48

The predictions seem to indicate that might happen with Trump but I am not holding my breath.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 15-Jul-20 19:25:58

More idiocy from Patel.

The Home Secretary is confused about the basic difference between UK citizenship and the legal residence of non-UK citizens.

Priti Patel on the EU Settlement Scheme:

"3.4 million (EU citizens) have been granted CITIZENSHIP already."

Seriously now, how can we expect decent migration policies when the Home Secretary does not know the difference between limited leave, indefinite leave & citizenship?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 15-Jul-20 19:27:32

I am beginning to wonder what on Earth the cabinet talks about when it meets up as none of them seem on top of their brief.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 15-Jul-20 19:29:00

Hope this is true.

I’m told Intelligence & Security Committee, after humiliating Boris Johnson & his choice for chairman Chris Grayling by electing Julian Lewis instead, will meet again tomorrow & is expected to agree to publish long-suppressed report on Russian meddling in UK politics next week.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 15-Jul-20 19:29:31

Not that it will be much good as so much will be redacted.

MaizieD Wed 15-Jul-20 20:02:05

Good heavens, Lewis has had the whip removed! shock

Jason Groves@JasonGroves1

Veteran Tory Julian Lewis has had the whip removed tonight after working with opposition MPs to secure the chairmanship of the Intelligence and Security Committee ahead of No 10's pick Chris Grayling. Government source says: 'There are consequences for that duplicity'

Well....what now?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 15-Jul-20 20:04:09

Strewth! Cummings has thrown a tantrum!

Does that means he has to leave the committee?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 15-Jul-20 20:11:04

If he remains, what an idiotic move by Cummings. A hissy fit will result in Lewis becoming a rogue agent.

MaizieD Wed 15-Jul-20 20:29:38

I don't see why he should have to leave the committee. He's still an MP and they are cross party committees. It probably means that the tories no longer have a majority on it.

Thing is, will he care about the removal of the whip and will he encourage more to rebel?

What a vindictive s*d that Cummings is.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 15-Jul-20 20:33:50

Look at the way he treated all the Tories known for their integrity and ability to think intelligently. Gone!

All Cummings seems to want is a party of the dims.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 15-Jul-20 21:01:01

If I was Lewis I would ensure the Russia report is published asap.
