Let's get going!

”LET'S GET GOING!” Now is the time to ”CHECK, CHANGE, GO!”

Two more 3 word slogans to cheer us up and energize us. I despair of this government. Have they now created a department of slogans whose job it is to come up with one ridiculous soundbite after another?

What will you be checking, what will you change and where will you go?

*Callistemon*, I enjoyed the Gallic Wars so much that I did Latin at A Level.

Even Chapter 40 shock?

Actually, I did enjoy Latin.
But I've probably forgotten most of what I knew back then.

AGAA4 Fri 17-Jul-20 16:05:49

I wonder what the next three words will be. Any ideas?

I was about to add veni etc. Autocorrect suggested Venice. I suppose it all began when Caesar said Gaul was divided into three parts.

Caesar's Gallic Wars
Gallia omnis divisa est in partes tres
The bane of my GCE years.

At least it is not 'go forth and multiply', ah Boris already did that one.

The first I get, but the second? Is that for real?

Always Check Your Change When Shopping. The Shops Are Open Again For Business. Then Go Home!

Geddit?
wink

And autocorrect changed vici to vice

hmm

Callistemon Fri 17-Jul-20 10:20:06

Sorry, I missed out
Veni, vidi, vice
before the or

DH interrupted my train of thought with a question about something else

Perhaps it’s the Prime Minister who can only process three words at a time. His own vocabulary seems limited to a few meaningless superlatives.

Three word phrases were always popular
He likes the Classics.

Or
In vino veritas
Et tu Dominic

GagaJo Fri 17-Jul-20 10:06:42

It's Cummings. Get Brexit Done was a success so he's sticking with the technique. I am convinced that really he's taking the p*ss. He thinks the electorate are idiots and is treating us that way. Rasputin is in charge.

Its like watching your favourite uncle act the fool.
No wonder deaths have been so high. DH thinks he did his best. I think his best would have been to plan ahead, but didn't want to commit the time or money.

powerful 3-word mantras

Are you serious, Urmstongran, or being sarky?

MaizieD Thu 16-Jul-20 18:35:27

AGAA4

He thinks the Great British Public can only process three words at a time.

A whole sentence would be too much for our little brains.

It's worked very well so far, hasn't it?

Take Back Control

Get Brexit Done

Why change a winning formula?

Barmeyoldbat Thu 16-Jul-20 15:23:15

Check what day it is.
Change into some decent clothing.
Go shopping and have a coffee.

growstuff Thu 16-Jul-20 15:12:48

I thought he'd already bagged "Should have gone" (to Specsavers).

Callistemon Thu 16-Jul-20 14:50:54

Not often enough, Oopsminty

"On your bike" addressed to Cummings would make a good one.

Oopsminty Thu 16-Jul-20 14:46:13

I agree, Callistemon!

I think 5 words are better than 3.

He's done 3 words once too often in my opinion

Ramblingrose22 Thu 16-Jul-20 14:41:45

Check what day it is

Change the 3-word mantra to an even more meaningless one

Go for another extended holiday in the middle of a public health crisis

This is because completing the first two tasks have been such hard work that you need to get away from it all.

And this is encapsulated by "Let's Get Going", which means let's go on holiday.

Callistemon Thu 16-Jul-20 14:39:02

'Life on Mars' seems an attractive alternative at the moment.

Callistemon Thu 16-Jul-20 14:37:49

But, oopsminty 'Let's get it Started' would be another great slogan!

Suggest it to Boris. wink
