What a stupid insensitive tweet from Sarah Vine. Does she not think of her poor children who would be devastated by the loss of a parent who is only in her fifties?

It's probably a "dead cat". She's trending on Twitter at the moment and knocking "Tory MP rape" off top spot.

Oh for goodness sake . Do you not understand family ? It’s what we (northerners) do . We look after each other and our own . We work damned hard too. It’s what we stand for .

If I die tomorrow from exhaustion at least it will be in the knowledge that I did my best for my own .

Fine, but don't take out your anger and frustration on public service workers, as you so often do.

Other people work hard and look after their families too.

Your children are quite old enough to take responsibility for their own children's care.

I am therefore totally and absolutely responsible for over more than 15 people .

Look after yourself for once.

Good for you teacheranne I hope you have a good pension and aren’t responsible for other people’s jobs and livelihoods . Looking after sick relatives, babysitting grandchildren to enable their parents to work and shopping for the elderly and vulnerable .

That's why the government needs to listen to and take care of people in your situation. It's not Teacheranne's fault.

The Tories are denying it, so no need to worry yet.

If you are prevented from working, the government needs to pay you compensation. Rather than being up in arms about it, that's what you should be fighting for.

Well, those of you who are up in arms, consider this. My mums care home have done a fantastic job of keeping their residents free from the virus, no deaths and just two cases. They have still not relaxed their standards from the earlier strict lockdown but this weekend they now have a quarter of residents who have tested positive, including my Mum. So it's back to being shut up in their rooms which is totally abhorrent for people with dementia and staff and families are living in fear.

The virus is still rampant and if I need to shield myself due to my age or health problems ( not shielded in last lockdown) then I will to help the rest of my community. I just wish everyone would follow the social guidance rules and keep the virus at bay.

The home is in Greater Manchester so in the area with a new lockdown but it's come too late for this care home.

Sorry but I think mrs Gove’s tweet is appalling. Silly woman. I am 70 And I sure as hell am not ready to die and my children are not ready to lose me either.

Where did you get your test Bibisarah. Not in Italy or in the UK in February.

*Both myself and my DH have had Covid, we are both in our 50s, we are both slightly overweight and DH has AF. We both say it was nothing like flu, I was ten times worse when I had flu. I am well aware that this is not the case for everyone but the majority of people do recover well. It is, of course, tragic for those who don’t but death or serious effects are not inevitable regardless of age*

Ive also had it and I'm in my 60's. It was like flu and lasted 3 weeks. I caught it on a holiday in either Italy and Switzerland at the beginning of February and Ive had no long term side effects.

Bully for you! Many people do have long-term side effects and some die. You don't have the right to wish it on anybody else.

Well, I'm not of the same opinion. If she wants to kill herself, I'm not going to stop her, but I have plenty of life left in me.

Well, he would say that, wouldn't he! Other states haven't had a spike but they may well do now because Victorians were allowed to cross the state borders a couple of weeks ago.
