.......anyone see his interview on the news? His insanity must now be obvious to all - surely no-one will vote for him? Just not possible............

Shame really that us Brits don't get to vote him out. How he could say we loved him when he visited I don't know. " Looser, Sucker".
If the latest new about the military is correct, God help America.

Trump's defeat in November is the most important factor in the future of the Western world.

Biden is uninspiring but he is a decent politician.

Everything about Trump is totally indecent. How can his supporters, many of whom profess to be Christians, not see that?

Trump has announced that if he doesn’t win the election it won’t be considered legitimate.

More worryingly though the intelligence community have assessed that once again Russia is actively working to prevent a Democrat from gaining the presidency. It is a repeat of 2016.

Trump seems intent on assisting the Russia’s by trying to limit Congressional oversight, and trying to stop public discussion over the interference.

This is so typical of an authoritarian right wing state, it is almost a stereotype .

The new director of national intelligence Ratcliffe, appointed by Trump, has stated that he will no longer proved in-person briefings, but instead issue a written report which can no longer be questioned.

I seem to remember that this was the sort of thing that provoked Trump’s outrage before the last election.

Deep state.

Difficult as it was to do, I watched the RNC-

I liked all of Malania's off the wall choices for clothes-

The main message they collectively attempted to peddle is The American Dream- (TAM)

They attempted to normalize working 3 or more jobs to make ends meet, to achieve TAM-

And then maybe after working your ass off, you might find full time employment and after 90 days of steady FT employment receive healthcare-

The story repeated itself time and again, speaker after speaker-

There's nothing normal about people struggling to make ends meet during the "best of times"- Then during financial downturns, going from bad to worse- And doing so without healthcare-

Message number 2: Biden-

They're mostly right about the guy- Democrats presented 1/2 his story during their convention- The Republicans shared the other half of his story-

Lots of American flags -- like .. lots .. like scary lots, like more than normally displayed on July 4th ..

Approximately 1,500 people attended the last night of the convention, sitting inches apart, outdoors on the South Lawn, less than 1% of the attendees wore masks-

As many have said the only thing we have in common is that we speak the same language.
Their history is so different from ours.
I heard someone on the radio talking about our 'special relatinship' . Rubbish - only when it suits both sides.

Only when it suits America and they want UK help. Vietnam - Harold Wilson thank goodness refused; Pearl Harbour and the Japanese - and when the USA finally agreed in return to help defeat Nazism.

A large majority of American's haven't a clue about the UK, and take no interest, political or otherwise, in what goes on here.

Melania looks relatively harmless but sadly she's not the Republican candidate Maddyone

maddyone Fri 28-Aug-20 19:29:21

I do like Melania though.

Oh my G...d, only just found this thread. Another four years of DT on our screens, help! Incidentally I’m friends with my husband’s cousin on Facebook, she lives in America, and she absolutely loves him, thinks he’s America’s saviour. She posts a lot of stuff about him which I ignore as I don’t want cause any family friction.

But only on their terms

So much for "Take back control"!

Lucca - the thing that worries me is that post Brexit the USA is going to be the main one of the few countries we can trade with.

Have the British public become too obsessed with America. Personally, I do not give a stuff who is President. The America people voted him in and may even do so again. Not my business and of not interest whatsoever.

Hardly obsessed, but it is worrying that such a man is at the head of arguably the greatest power in the western world!

What’s with Melania and her quasi military outfit ? Very dictators wife.

Yes! That’s exactly what I thought

pollyperkins Fri 28-Aug-20 16:42:07

As far as the shooting is concerned it’s the result of the American gun policy. Police in the USA shoot first in case a suspect is armed . In this case he was trying to get into his car and they probably thought he had a gun in the glove compartment. It wouldn’t happens in the UK as very few people are armed. I don’t know what the answer is. The gun lobby is very powerful. Obama tried to limit gun ownership but there was too much opposition.

“ the new Quantum Financial System”. I read about this and understood not a word, so i don’t know if I’m looking forward to it or not !

NannyC2 Fri 28-Aug-20 16:06:13

He will win, just wait and see!
He's not as stupid as many people seem to imagine. There's lots going on in the background which you will not hear from the main stream media.
Are you looking forward to the new Quantum Financial System which has already been tested?
Do you know the USA voting system is changing to stop rigging and fraud?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 28-Aug-20 08:28:10

Civil war wouldn’t surprise me.

You can’t keep killing one part of your population and not expect reaction.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 28-Aug-20 08:17:27

I think you are right Whitewavemark2 I will be surprised if Joe Biden wins the Presidency, another four years of Donald Trump, who knows what that could bring?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 28-Aug-20 08:10:35

Perversely I can see this dreadful violence of division and hate caused in part by the populist politics a Trump espouses working to Trumps advantage.

rosecarmel Thu 27-Aug-20 23:09:29

I've been watching the RNC- It's quite a production-
Very-patriotically-polished- Not a 1950's mind-numbing hair out of place- Apple-pie perfect-

m.youtube.com/watch?v=er_3v1MFenI

She's right, like it or not- She's also equally wrong-

And never the twain shall meet ..

I understand that the latest shooting of a black unarmed man by the USA police has resulted in him being paralysed from the waist down.

Shot 7 times in the back at point-blank range, in front of his children-

The story is still unfolding-

Can we be surprised at the violent reaction, when we see the violence by the Wisconsin police.
