Oh dear, not quite the reaction the OP expected.

On the contrary Callistemon, as usual, I have made my post somewhat ambiguous, sorry about that. The disapproval came from those on Instagram, or at least those that MaizieD correctly remarked on: Celeb followers. The general consensus here is that of my own, I'm pleased to say.

I've had a couple of texts from friends in our social group who say something to the effect of: "If those on Instagram were to see the children at dance competitions they would probably be frothing at the mouth."

Not having children and therefore, grandchildren, I was interested to see the opinions of Gransnetters. Thank you for responding.

I was expecting to see much worse. She's wearing a little make up but nothing too much. My 7year old DGD has just aquired some pink sparkly lip balm, she likes to put it on in secret and then show you. As long as it's not the whole focus of girls' lives no harm done.

Can't see what the fuss is about personally. Her face is lit from below, which creates shadows, and so very probably she isn't wearing make up at all. But if she, so what?

She looks older than my 9 year old DGD but she looks very sweet. If she is wearing a little make-up so what?. She’s not your average 9 year old, the only girl with 3 older brothers and coming from such a showbiz family.

looks like a lot of 9 year olds I kmow.they love their makeup .One of my GD.s knows how to put it on and how not to.Just to make me laugh she'll put foundation that stops at her chin and thick eyebrows and bright red lips..Its the CHAV look dont you know granny ? She's 10 but her 9 year old cousin is just the same.Bamboo cleansing pads ,micellar water and biodegradable wipes are all on the birthday list .Its all just part of growing up in the noughties

Had she been wearing something like the attached image, there would have been cause for concern. What she is wearing is actually quite nice. Would they rather she wore a dress fit for Hilda Ogden? X
