So all those who have complained about this the debt is paid off in full. Do you feel better?

Can you at least acknowledge they are doing their best?

Trisher, I wasn't comparing M.'s actions to those of Hitler. There's no doubt in my mind that the man and his actions would be abhorrent to her. But this was a move he used. I didn't make up some random reference to him and deceitfully pin it on M.

However I do think there may be something a bit unbalanced in her. Something that wasn't necessarily always there but which has been brought out by being so much in the public eye (wouldn't be a first) and the almost slavish adulation she's receiving in America. If this is true, it's to be pitied but I still find it disturbing.

The arms-crossed-over-chest does, in my eyes (which I neither expect nor want you to take as your view) signal an 'I'm so compassionate it's almost Messianic' view of oneself. Not because it's M. doing it. It just seem disturbing full stop.

haporthrosie Thu 10-Sept-20 14:31:44

Sorry 'seems disturbing'

Ellianne Thu 10-Sept-20 14:34:35

Well merlot, if I were the Queen I would quickly change my mind today and stay put in Scotland. Apparently children under 12 don't count in the Scottish bubble of six, so she could still see George, Charlotte, Louis, Archie, Zara's kids etc.etc. up at Balmoral Sorted!

trisher Thu 10-Sept-20 14:44:15

I was going to ask for a photo of her doing this crossing arms, but I've just wasted 10 mins looking through photos of her and quite honestly I don't care. (there weren't any)
haportharosie so now she's not just a Nazi she's unbalanced!!!!

haporthrosie Thu 10-Sept-20 15:06:35

Ellianne so sorry for the misspelling! The hopping about worried me a bit as well, though I hoped it was a matter of not having found the right chap yet, and that having met Harry she'd stick to the job with dedication. The intense touchy-feelyness was a bit worrying as well though I tried to be generous and put it down to her Hollywood background. You're so v. right that if the 'cult leader' thing was always part of her then she's definitely better off outside the RF. No matter how acrimonious the divide it's better than having someone with that tendency within the firm.

Trisher thank you for showing some humour about my Hitler ref. and Harry's 'Nazi' past! Clearly we disagree on many things but I do see your point about how views of the Royals change. It may well be that down the road we can see this all differently. Imho that will depend on how H&M conduct themselves, but even at their relatively late stage in life (they're both not far off 40, not in their early 20's) there's still plenty of room for growth. I really do hope for good things for all involved. Also hope that all Gransnetters and your families are safe and sound.

haporthrosie Thu 10-Sept-20 15:11:32

Just read this trisher. Where did I claim she was a Nazi? I said that she made a physical gesture that was often used by Hitler (it's in video footage which happens to be from memory so unfortunately I can't provide links and to be honest I'm not going to spend the time looking it up to prove something to someone who has twisted so many arguments and been rude regarding perfectly valid opinions. As shown in my post above I was ready to give you credit where it was due; why can you not do the same for others?

Ellianne Thu 10-Sept-20 15:15:16

Like this?

haporthrosie Thu 10-Sept-20 15:29:40

Well done Ellianne! flowers

Sparklefizz Thu 10-Sept-20 15:39:54

Actually that photo of MM gives me the creeps. It's as if she is trying to look like a Medieval religious painting.

merlotgran Thu 10-Sept-20 15:44:39

Maybe that's why they're moving her, so she isn't tempted! grin

Callistemon Thu 10-Sept-20 15:45:12

Yet the Windsor family have been as much use as an inflatable dart board.

Not true in fact.

And you are forever ready with the poisoned darts, Grany.

merlotgran Thu 10-Sept-20 15:53:10

Has anybody else seen today's video of Harry sending best wishes to soldiers taking part in a charity trek?

He barely shows any emotion in a monotonous, very short message. He sounds like a brainwashed hostage and there's barely a glimpse of a smile at the end. He actually looks bored and as though he can't wait for it to be over. sad

Ellianne Thu 10-Sept-20 16:19:19

Poor Harry, he does look drained and disinterested. Why doesn't he smarten himself up a bit too? Has he just fallen out of bed?

Namsnanny Thu 10-Sept-20 16:22:46

May be its dawning on him that he is playing second fiddle, and his causes dont pave the way for Meghans future plans merlotgran! smile
which I still think include being as close as she can to the top position in usa.

Of course that's all women are meant to do support their husbands. Heaven forbid that they should have careers or run businesses.

No we are meant to have careers, earn our own money AND do all the wife work of keeping house, husband and children happy. All with a smile on our faces while being joyfully available to our men

Summerlove Thu 10-Sept-20 18:12:43

Strange question,

No stranger than the original statement

Callistemon Thu 10-Sept-20 18:15:14

Oh dear, poor you Summerlove
There is another thread on here about useless husbands which could be of interest to you. Don't put up with it!

Iam64 Thu 10-Sept-20 19:18:46

Another nasty, negative thread about H and M. Summerlove is spot on, women are expected to have careers, earn their own money and do the bulk of the domestic/emotional/practical care of the family - all with a smile on their faces. Those of us who aren't in that category are fortunate indeed. Read through the various threads on this forum about how much husbands involve themselves or feel remotely responsible for domestic stuff.
trisher - many thanks for your contributions on this thread.

trisher Thu 10-Sept-20 20:01:42

Thanks Iam64 I know we don't always agree.
I just wish there were a few more Americans willing to drag a few more of the RF off to the States.

I’m not sure if you missed the sarcasm or were ignoring it, but my point was that there is no right way to be a woman.

Similar to the discussion a few months ago about cat calls, just as some women deplored them and found them sexist, other women thought them a great amount of good fun and harmless.

Judging the others is the problem.

There should not be any competition between Meghan and Catherine. They each play the role they want the way they want- as should we all.

Summerlove Thu 10-Sept-20 20:22:25

I also find it incredibly interesting how many people are willing to let Harry off the hook here. He’s a grown-up and makes his own decisions. If he didn’t want to do what he was doing, he wouldn’t.

The constant blaming of his wife is maddening to me, especially for so many women who want to be called feminists.

Anniebach Thu 10-Sept-20 21:24:41

Feminism is an excuse, those defending Meg are republicans so naturally they are going to cheer her on in the hope she will
damage the monarchy .

Marrying into the royal family also means taking on a job, for
males and females like everyone who marries into the family Phillip does what the job demands of him. One exception is
Tim Lawrence so he remains silent .

Comparing any other family is daft.

Harry is a disturbed man, always has been and no one knows
a couple where the man is weak and the woman strong and
manipulating ?

How can Anyone applaud Meg for her tv interview in S.A.

Lucca Thu 10-Sept-20 21:39:44

“ those defending Meg are republican”.
How do you know ???
I am not for a start !
I just think enough is enough with the 83 threads having a go at Meghan and Harry and Diana. And it is not just criticism it is nasty. I agree with you Iam64.

Lucca Thu 10-Sept-20 21:41:10

I’m not “defending” Meghan by the way as I have never met her I’m just trying to get posters to play fair.
Brick wall.

Anniebach Thu 10-Sept-20 21:50:42

Nasty ? Calling posters ‘embittered old crones ‘ is acceptable but criticism of Meg is nasty.

Kate can be criticised but not Meg . Kate is a 1950’s housewife,
acceptable, Meg is a manipulator is nasty.
