Government corruption why is no one shouting from the housetops?

“Fear, shame, embarrassment: these brakes no longer apply. The government has discovered that it can bluster through any scandal. No minister need resign. No one need apologise. No one need explain.

As public outrage grows over the billions of pounds of coronavirus contracts issued by the government without competition, it seems determined only to award more of them. Never mind that the consulting company Deloitte, whose personnel circulate in and out of government, has been strongly criticised for the disastrous system it devised to supply protective equipment to the NHS. It has now been granted a massive new contract to test the population for Covid-19.

Cummings ally's PR firm given Covid-19 contracts without tenders

Never mind that some of these contracts have reportedly cost taxpayers £800 for every protective overall delivered. Never mind that at least two multi-million pound contracts appear to have been issued to dormant companies. Awarding contracts to unusual companies, without advertising, transparency or competition now appears to have been adopted as the norm. Several of the firms that have benefited from this largesse are closely linked to senior figures in the government.“

From today’s papers.

Several of the above dodgy (downright illegal) deals have been mentioned on GN never mind the press and other media, but this government simply carries on handing out tax-payers money to cronies and born-to-fail projects. Billions.

Why are we sitting back and doing nothing.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 17-Sept-20 12:45:33

BTW what happened to covid marshals?

Is that another daft incompetent idea that has immediately gone down the pan?

I reckon most people would be hard pushed to outline anything that this government has done competently and successfully.

Barmeyoldbat

We won't turn into a tin pot dictatorship, we are already in one.

Apparently it's OK though, Barmeyoldbat, because we don't actually have any brownshirts on the streets (yet).

To return to the original question asking why people not shouting from the roof tops.
I highly recommend a new documentary on Netflix called The Social Dilemma. Whatever you feel your knowledge of how social media works is this is chilling and explains a lot.

digital currency represents electronic money (e-money). ... As such, bitcoin is a digital currency but also a type of virtual currency.
There are a lot of references you can look up, but it is hoped that the new system to which they are aiming at will be much more secure and prevent fraud which I am sure we would all like.

Human Rights are something that other people witter on about, a bit like Health and Safety ( gone mad). Why on earth anyone should take umbrage at the principal that we should be able to go to work and come home with all our limbs intact is beyond me.
What is wrong with:

-your right to have and express your own opinions
-your right to an education
-your right to a private and family life
-your right not to be mistreated or wrongly punished by the
state

Dorsetcupcake61 Sun 13-Sept-20 15:14:05

Until they realise their rights or those of someone they care about have been violated?. Too late then.

growstuff Sun 13-Sept-20 14:54:55

Opting out of certain human rights was always on the cards. Sadly, it seems loads of people don't care.

Dorsetcupcake61 Sun 13-Sept-20 14:38:55

Just as things to be getting even gloomier with infections rising and rise in cases in care homes, read that Johnson desperate to opt out of Human Rights as well. ! We are going to turn into some tin pot dictatorship at this rate. Well, officially turn into one....

There have been several articles and opinion pieces in some of the Nationals - the Guardian (much derided by some) to name but one. There have also been earlier threads on here and not doubt there are others elsewhere.

The present govt takes absolutely no notice and the only thing that we can hope for - very pie in the sky - is that sufficient Tory MP's will vote against the govt tomorrow so that Johnson loses his majority. I can't see that happening - most of them seem to think about themselves first, rather than their constituents.

Nanny 2
Could you give us an easy to understand explanation of the differences between this digital currency or bit coin etc. Please.

You never seem to be prepared to listen to others, growstuff if they don't agree with you? It certainly seems you're not well versed in technology! Have you any degrees in modern technology? I have several family members who do work within the industry.

If you need to understand better than I am happy to point you in the direction of the following (BrownCryptoKid) - he does professional on-line courses - speaks the truth with facts and take you through the whole process as to how it is developing.

In your dreams NannyC2. It isn't administered by lizards by any chance, is it?

NannyC2 Sat 12-Sept-20 21:51:01

Buena noches, MaizieD.

You asked 2 questions.
The present system, I do not know specifics but know it is not working as it should satisfactorily for all concerned.

Why would a system need to be backed by gold? ........

Only gold-or asset backed currencies that have a digital gold or asset certificate can be transferred through the QFS. The certificate references a serial number on a piece of gold or asset held in reserve to back the currency. Off-world technologies are used to quarantine the gold and or assets used to back currencies. There is no way it can be stolen or taken out of the secure vaults where it is stored. That is why it is called a gold-backed currency, it has to reference back to the piece of gold or asset that is backing it.

A Quantum System provides pristine clean integrity in the movement of funds from Central Banking sources to destination accounts. In the US it will replace the SWIFT system.

The key benefits are to protect all parties from corruption, usury and manipulation within the banking system and ensure banks are are monitored and protected with regard to the agreed upon contract of the transfer fund process.

QFS is not crypto currency it is asset-backed digital currency. It will have financial security and transparency of all currency holders.

Most importantly, it will put an end to corruption which this thread was addressing!

pollyperkins Sat 12-Sept-20 17:04:09

We are so appalled about the govt trying to change the withdrawal agreement that we have written to our (Tory) MP. If we all did maybe they would take some notice.

vegansrock Sat 12-Sept-20 17:02:52

Yes guess which companies are lined up to get “state aid” ? Deloitte and Serco maybe?

Ilovecheese Sat 12-Sept-20 16:55:26

The Conservative Party have traditionally been wary of state aid being given to industries, yet are now willing to break International law in order to retain the right to give state aid to industries of their choice. I wonder if Dominic Cummings might be thinking about starting up his own tech company and applying for some ..er..state aid.
