Won’t do a virtual debate - should be empty chaired. Good news

It was put out on Parler, the extreme right wing platform. So who knows

PippaZ Sat 09-Jan-21 20:43:14

It could be the police smile It would be a very quick way to round them up.

If it is his intention how is he stopped?

Chewbacca Sat 09-Jan-21 20:41:04

Surely that's a spoof Whitewave? It has to be? He can't be that deranged can he?

biba70 Sat 09-Jan-21 20:11:11

This is truly scary, and disturbing

youtu.be/lhjRXO72v1s

which is why I opened another thread, as 'throwing toys out of a pram' really does not apply to above. Fascism and terrorism does, murder, even.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 09-Jan-21 20:06:33

This takes some believing!

CNN News now

If you don't know how to shoot: You need to learn. NOW."
"we will storm the government buildings, kill cops, kill security guards, kill federal employees and agents, and demand a recount."
In the weeks, days and hours ahead of Wednesday's siege on the Capitol by President Donald Trump's zealous supporters, the warning signs were clear: online posts from hate groups and right-wing provocateurs agitating for civil war, the deaths of top lawmakers and attacks on law enforcement.
And now, as the dust settles and the country struggles to make sense of the violence that left
five dead -- including an officer with the US Capitol Police -- experts warn that the calls for violence have only intensified ahead of Inauguration Day, when President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in as commander in chief.
"We are seeing ... chatter from these white supremacists, from these far-right extremists -- they feel emboldened in this moment," said Jonathan Greenblatt, the CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, which tracks and counters hate. "We fully expect that this violence could actually get worse before it gets better.

I watched CNN last night and saw that Trump had flat out refused to tell the demonstrators to go home, even though by then, he was aware of the death of at least one person and others injured. It was only because Ivanka intervened that he eventually conceded to his half hearted attempt to regain some initiative over the situation. Melanie was apparently engrossed in making a documentary about a coffee table book about White House ornaments and artefacts and, despite being asked to go and speak to Trump and reason with him, she wouldn't. It appears to be only Ivanka that had any sense of the enormity of what was unfolding.

It is interesting to see that some of those involved have handed themselves in and are, apparently, shocked at what happened.

It has to be said that some of the were definitely not shocked but it really goes to show how "good people" can get involved.

Rhinestone, thanks for your summary of the extent of powers over impeachment
beverley10 - I can't understand your criticism of Biden. How could he possibly ignore what's happening? I agree with whichever poster desired Biden's response so far as 'pitch perfect'.

Imagine, having a decent human being as Potus after the last four years.

We should be warned.

I forgot to mention this. While the congress was lying on the floor praying for their lives, Trump was calling senators about his loss of the election. Can you imagine?

Yes, I can imagine all too well!

Elegran Sat 09-Jan-21 15:41:37

I should have referred to beverley10's post.

PippaZ Sat 09-Jan-21 15:33:43

Sorry Elegran. I can see now that your comment was a follow on to beverly10 Sat 09-Jan-21 14:20:16. I should have directed my answer to her.

Biden could not ignore the insurrection or Trump's part in encouraging it. Do do so would have been to condone them both.

I don't think he is ignoring it. At the moment he is not in a position to do anything about it. That would be down to either Vice Precedent Pence or Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He has certainly spoken out and can in no way be said to have condoned Trump's actions. I imagine that has been at some additional risk to his own safety.

Callistemon Sat 09-Jan-21 15:11:20

Trump has brought the office of POTUS into disrepute and Biden is quite right to condemn his behaviour.

Elegran Sat 09-Jan-21 15:05:02

He is the President-elect, and in a few days will be the President in reality. The problems of the country will be his to sort out, and that includes those that his predecessor is creating by his actions and words. Of course he is starting to get a grip on how to deal with it all.

Elegran Sat 09-Jan-21 15:02:03

Whitewavemark2 Sat 09-Jan-21 14:59:22

I think Biden has been pitch perfect

MayBee70 Sat 09-Jan-21 14:45:22

Biden had every right to condemn Trumps behaviour. In no way was it stooping to his level.

Did any one watch like myself, with some what of surprise . the soon to be new occupant of The White House Biden, seat secured, instead of ignoring Trump and his supporters ' rantings , responded to the x presidents conduct for the whole world to observe.?By now the world knows Trump and what he is capable of. Please please Mr B do not stoop to your predescessors level. We got the message 'moons' ago.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 09-Jan-21 13:34:01

Interesting stuff rhinestone

Rhinestone Sat 09-Jan-21 13:31:14

To invoke the 25 th amendment means Pence would have to be on board as well as the cabinet. He won’t. Some are fleeing and resigning like rats on a ship. I think Pence is scared of repercussions from those groups as is Biden. Pence’s family was at the Capitol during all the riots.
To have another impeachment is still viable. But if he gets impeached in the house and not the Senate he is not convicted. He has to be convicted by a trial in the Senate and then he will lose any perks and privileges he has when he leaves office. Nixon resigned and therefore got to keep his perks like a pension and secret service guards.
There is a timeline for this thus being that Monday the House chamber could start the proceedings with the impeachment papers,
Tuesday they could vote, and Wednesday the Senate could do a trial. But of course there’s Mitch McConnell who is still the head of the Senate and until the Democrats get in on June 20 he probably won’t go ahead with convicting Trump. So the senate can convict after the inauguration. Trump has done and said things detrimental to our country and has never paid for it.

There is a post on this thread that suggests it was antifa in the Capital building along with a you tube recording. I have reported it but so far GN have failed to take it down. I’m not clear whether they understand what they are looking at. This is the sort of message that causes insurrection.

But if it isn’t taken down soon it needs reporting.
