Jeremy Corbyn suspended from Labour Party

Sorry, but any respect I had for Corbyn has completely evaporated. He is being malignant. He could have kept his mouth shut or uttered a few platitudes when the EHRC report was published. But, despite knowing what the party leader was going to say he deliberately said that the AS in the LP had been exaggerated and refused to retract it. IMO There would have been no action if that sentence had been omitted. He is now sh*t stirring for all he is worth. And deflecting the energies of the party from what it should be doing, which is opposing the tories.

2020 continues to deliver utter rubbish...

These verbal attacks on Margaret Hodge need to be thoroughly investigated. We need to be told where these posts came from and whether or not they were from members of the Labour party. It will be an opportunity for Keir Starmer to show how much better he is going to be at responding to incidents like this.

Starmer has undoubtedly become the worst leader the Labour Party has had in its entire history. On becoming leader he took over a party with a membership of over four hundred and sixty eight thousand, but now eight months later, if reports are correct, the membership is down to under two hundred thousand. People are resigning or just not renewing their membership as it falls due.

Starmer inherited a party with a healthy well funded balance sheet, but due to the fall in membership and the reduction of the trade union funding the party is heading towards the largest financial crisis in its history.

Many in the party and movement have in recent days attempted to bring some unity and stability to the organisation by reinstating Corbyn to membership. However, Starmer acting entirely outside the rules of the party shatters those attempts and brings even higher disunity and strife into the organisation. The forgoing together with his "no show" throughout the Jeff Cummings crisis in the government demonstrates Starmer in entirely not suited to political high office.

Glued to his Westminster bench he seems not in any way to be in touch with much of the Labour movement and in that he cannot, and does not, deserve to succeed.

My local party voted to reinstate the whip to Corbyn.
I despair. Again.

I find it refreshing to see a Party leader prepared to back up his words and promises with actions. Meanwhile we have Boris who will very likely turn a blind eye to the piffling matter of a Cabinet minister breaking the ministerial code and giving her the push.

I understand Brent Central CLP has also passed a motion demanding the restoration of the Labour Parliamentary whip to Corbyn.

And it seems another CLP has passed a motion calling on the NEC to take all steps possible to remove David Evans from office.

November 19 has been a disastrous day for Keir Starmer and his cronies.

How much worse can it get before he bows to the inevitable?

I wonder what sanctions will be carried out by the NEC members who signed the letter, if they don’t get what they demanded?

Perhaps Starmer’s decision will be made easier by the continuing rebellion of party members across the country, who continue to ignore his diktats that they should not speak up on Corbyn’s behalf or campaign for him.

implies that their advice was that there were no valid grounds for Corbyn’s suspension
confirms that the whip had been restored to Corbyn on the lifting of his suspension, making an utter mockery of Starmer’s excuse that he was ‘not restoring’ the whip rather than withdrawing it
makes clear that the meddling in the disciplinary outcome is exactly that kind of ‘political interference’ the EHRC has ruled unlawful
accuses Starmer and other right-wing MPs of smearing the NEC panel members who acted in accordance with the party’s rules and the legal advice they gave
says that Starmer has put NEC members in a legal bind – and that as a highly-qualified barrister he has no excuse for his ‘unconscionable’ choice
demands that Evans rebuke Starmer for his political interference in party processes and undermining public confidence in Labour’s disciplinary process
‘requires’ Evans to immediately ‘demand’ that Starmer upholds the NEC panel’s decision and restores the whip to Corbyn

It's not the policies as laid out in the 2019 manifesto, they were fine. I don't even consider them to be 'far left'. It's the belief that a new 'socialist' party under Corbyn would attract voters that I feel is naive.

Also, as I and others have already said, this condemns the UK (or what's left of it if Scotland and Wales leave ) to tory rule for what could be decades.

Should any new party be formed it will certainly not be Jeremy Corbyn who will lead it. New faces will be required to make that complete break with the present Labour party and in that leave all the disputes, arguments and history far behind.

There are many leading figures in the trade unions and other associate member groups of the present Labour movement that have wide working experience outside of the Westminster bubble that hopefully could be attracted into the leadership of a new well funded party.

I am thinking of people such as Steve Turner or Steve Preddy of the Unite union would be what is required to establish the party firmly in the minds of what should be its core base support.

If a leader is actually workng against the nterests of the party he has to go. What good was Starmer when the Bill went through giving the right to commit criminal acts to under cover agents from many organisations (including the Food Standards Agency). Did he hold the government to account then?

You’d almost think that momentum had been infiltrated by people who were, in fact, working for the Conservative party if you didn’t know better....

There is to be an announcement later today apparently.

There’s talk on Facebook of a leadership contest now. I despair. How can Keir hold the government to account when they know his party isn’t supporting him? It’s win win fir the Tories. Is that really what Labour want?

I follow some Labour facebook groups. The Corbyn/Momentum contributors are shockingly anti semitic, abusive and offensive.

I dont know of we are allowed to repeat these things on GN but this is what is currently is happening. People need to open their eyes, its terrifying. Not the good guys.

Meanwhile at the moment Margaret Hodge is being called the following, bitch, nazi, Palestinian child murderer, member of rich jewish dynasty, and of course the ever popular I hope she dies.
