Thank you Rowantree. I agree with you.

I do wonder why any support for Corby is always labelled "a cult". I suspect it's because someone realises that they are actually condemning and criticising someone who doesn't really deserve it, so the only resource they have is to call other people names.

Anniebach Tue 03-Nov-20 09:42:06

Really trisher that’s why some call others really offensive names such as - embittered old crones ?

GagaJo Tue 03-Nov-20 09:48:18

Oh give it up Annie. How long are you going to bang the same drum?

No absolutely not. But I do think that your energy would be far better spent pursuing and proselytising the type of policies that you think the Labour Party should have.

Corbyn will almost certainly be back in the Labour Party before too long, but on the back benches. That episode will be over and yesterday’s news.

Exactly!

I agree Whitewave2 concentrate on getting Labour polices, but Starmer has backtracked on all his pledges he made so far.

We have to defend Corbyn against the lies, he spoke the truth in statement. Starmer has to please the right wing and big doners get rid of the socialists. I thought he said a party of unity.

Will see how Starmer does but he has upset a lot of Labour supporters already.

Must find something else to do spentbenoughntime on here. Ha

I am not aware that Starmer has made any policy decisions yet?

I think the major issue here is that the left of the party had a left leaning leader for the first time in a generation, and unfortunately he lost the election very badly indeed, resigned and we now have a new leader.

Yes it is very disappointing, but the bandwagon will roll on and this issue will be forgotten, but the issues never will.

trisher Tue 03-Nov-20 11:00:49

I do actually post on policies as well strange that no-one remembers, and the absolute lack of any sign that Starmer is supporting them. The lack of opposition to an absolute breech of human rights, the immunity to prosecution for under cover operators. In the past this has led to women becoming sexually involved with men they didn't really know and having children to them. It is in fact a license to rape and murder but hey who cares about human rights?

Anniebach Tue 03-Nov-20 11:50:44

Were the women who had relationships with those undercover police officers raped and murdered ?

trisher Tue 03-Nov-20 12:06:09

If you consent to have sex with someone and they are not really who they say they are, if you marry them and have children with them I would imagine it fels very much like rape. Same sense of guilt, same loss of self-worth, same feeling of being used. Are you really saying it is OK to use women in this way Annie?

Anniebach Tue 03-Nov-20 12:11:09

Asking a question is not saying anything, it’s asking a question,
hopefully without a sarcastic answer, but I accept for some replying to a question without sarcasm is alien to them.

Is this really a serious question? Well as I said it depends if you regard a man completely hiding his real identity and having sex with a woman as rape and I think yes it probably is. Proper consent requires certain knowledge. The fact that children were born to these relationships is even worse.

trisher this quote perhaps says it all - it might even have been on Twitter at the time

‘The comprehensive apology comes four years after the women launched legal action against the police, alleging the deception caused them emotional trauma.

As part of an out of court settlement, Martin Hewitt, an assistant commissioner at the Met, issued a statement saying: “Thanks in large part to the courage and tenacity of these women in bringing these matters to light it has become apparent that some officers, acting undercover whilst seeking to infiltrate protest groups, entered into long-term intimate sexual relationships with women which were abusive, deceitful, manipulative and wrong.

“I acknowledge that these relationships were a violation of the women’s human rights, an abuse of police power and caused significant trauma. I unreservedly apologise on behalf of the Metropolitan police service. I am aware that money alone cannot compensate the loss of time, their hurt or the feelings of abuse caused by these relationships.”

He added: “Most importantly, relationships like these should never have happened. They were wrong and were a gross violation of personal dignity and integrity.‘

trisher Tue 03-Nov-20 13:41:04

Thanks suziewoozie. I feel so sorry for those women. And yet legislation is going through Parliament which will make such behaviour more acceptable and Keir Starmer lets it go.

Ilovecheese Tue 03-Nov-20 13:46:19

I don't know how anyone cannot feel compassion for those women and their children, o.k. they were not murdered but they were badly used.
I would hate to have been in their shoes. It is just so sad, and Keir Starmer must have known this and yet still will not speak out against this legislation.

Ilovecheese Tue 03-Nov-20 14:39:34

I wonder if this legislation is because the Police have had to make a payout to one of the young men born as result of these "relationships".

Quote from the Guardian article 7th Oct 2020

"Scotland Yard has apologised and paid substantial compensation to a man who was fathered by an undercover police officer who formed a long-term relationship with his mother in the 1980s in order to spy on political campaigners."

Perhaps the Government want to avoid similar payouts in the future.

trisher Tue 03-Nov-20 14:43:56

What sort of a country allows its law enforcement officers to misuse women and father children in such a way? If it was happening somewhere else there would be an outcry about it.
