I feel it matters little now if Corbyn is expelled from the Labour party or not. Starmer has shown since his election that he wishes to see no place within the higher positions of the executive for members which are from the left of the party. His sacking of Long-Bailey from the shadow cabinet and not replacing her with someone from the left caused doubts regarding Starmers election pledge to unite the party. However, in not acting to resist the suspension of Corbyn being a former leader, Nobel peace prize winner and member for over fifty years confirmed to me, and very many, others that Starmer wishes to move the party away from it's socialist roots for it to become nothing more than a mark two Conservative party.
However, as the weekend developments have shown, the Labour Parties largest funders being the Unite Union and several other unions have had many thousands of their members and activists calling on those unions leaderships to end the funding of the Labour Party and divert those millions into a new socialist political party firmly set up within the trade unions and other affiliate organisations. Time has run out for this bickering, squabbling, no commitment Labour party unless Starmer acts very quickly to demonstrate he is determined to lead an all inclusive party into the future.
I see that there are those in this thread who wish to see the left of the party split away, and they may now well now get their wish. But, the Unite Union (my union) alone have funded the Labour Party to the tune of over five million pounds since December of last year, and those that wish to see the left of the party depart will have to put there hands far deeper into their pockets if the present Labour party is to survive.
