Yes WW you have been an a busy bunny on this subject, time to move on.
Where is that in this thread Algerias ??

Alegrias2 Mon 09-Nov-20 11:59:03

Sorry to break this to you Lemon, but its not all about you.

You might want to read the comments about dead voters, Harris's political stance and Biden's state of health to see some fake news.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Nov-20 11:58:11

Oh the entire thing is my fault then??????

What a silly billy you are at times lemon

lemongrove Mon 09-Nov-20 11:49:24

I wonder what the ‘fake news’ actually is on this thread?
There is none, that’s what.
A poster thought that Biden may not like the UK. Lucca said this was a silly remark.I commented to Lucca, that maybe not so silly ( to think) as some Americans with Irish Catholic roots do have a down on the UK ( which most of them think is England).I also said that hopefully Biden will not think this way.
If any of you have ever been in an Irish pub in Boston on or near St Pat’s Day then you will know how people feel there.
As that generation fade away there will possibly be less of it
( anti English rhetoric.)As I am of Irish Catholic heritage and still have relatives on both sides of the Irish Border, I do know a bit about this.
This was never meant to take over the thread btw it was just my comment to Lucca......but whitewave picked it up and ran with it.

Fake News just kind of reminds me of Trump. He is a scary, disruptive man and I don't think we've seen the last of him yet.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Nov-20 11:16:26

GCHQ take a leaf out of the US media, they have decided to call out the lies for what they are and zapping them.

Hello, just popping on to remind everyone that by all means disagree but no personal attacks please. Also, please be mindful of not posting fake news as fact. Thanks.

It would be nice to suggest no racist slurs towards the Irish but hey ho.

One can live in hope

I wish you'd get terminology right, Lara. It's not 'fake news'; it's LIES.

'Fake news' just sanitises it...

On don't be ridiculous. Ireland is a country that should never have been dividend the first place. Divided countries are always a source of friction by their very existance, and the sooner they're reunited the better as was Germany! As for Scotland and Wales? They were both.counties in the own right, and if they wish to become so again , who are we to deny them that wish?!

^I do think though, that the sooner NI rejoins the south the better, for all our sakes!^

So that's the Scots you want rid of and the Irish. Will you let the Welsh stay? Anyone else you'd like to get rid of, while we're at it? As well as EU nationals and asylum seekers of course...

Trumpian populist nationalism still alive and kicking.

But hopefully not for very much longer

I just can't understand why Americans are so hung up about being of Irish decent

It is the same in other countries where there are descendants of immigrants from generations ago.
It is nostalgia for a past which, in reality, was never was like the romanticised dream.

Whole thread on twitter explaining the 'elderly voter' phenomenon and more.

mobile.twitter.com/jacknicas/status/1324806270579318785

Didn't Trump promise to 'Make America Great Again'? As far as I can see all he achieved was to make America the laughing stock of the world hmm

But who wants truth and explanations when lies and conspiracies theories are do much more fun?

why on earth should somebody know better.because they have have Irish roots? I too have Irish roots, G.grandmother, County Cork who came here for a better life! This knowledge doesn't inspire any affinity in me towards Eire or its people! I just can't understand why Americans are so hung up about being of Irish decent, tbh I find it totally weird! I do think though, that the sooner NI rejoins the south the better, for all our sakes!

Sorry folks but I fully agree with Pilgrim. This is far from over. I suggest you go searching the internet to find out what has really been going on.
Mind you, they have had postal ballots from 110 years old up to 170 years old for Biden. Hmm
I am not a particular fan of Trump as a person, but as a President he did get things he promised done.

Evidence links pretty please and no, telling us to search the internet is not evidence. I could link you to an online video which shows Nancy Pelosi slurring her words and looking dazed except it was doctored and slowed down - evidence of what?

What you actually mean WW is that it’s a post you don’t like.
Nevertheless, it happens to be true.
I sincerely hope that Joe Biden doesn’t have an ancestral ‘down’ on us because of his Irish Catholic roots.

What a truly truly awful post - to suggest that he would make important decisions like this based on ‘an ancestral down’. It’s in the same category as Johnson’s ‘part Kenyan’ racist slur about Obama and, as with most comments of this type, probably says more about the person making the comment than the person about whom the comment is made. What does make sense would be an opinion that Biden based on our history, would not trust us to treat NI well or for our word to be trusted on how much we cared about the GFA.

lemongrove Mon 09-Nov-20 09:52:53

Oh do give over!
Have you really never heard of all the IRA fundraising in America in the past?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Nov-20 09:48:33

lemongrove

I have Irish Catholic roots.

Then you should know better.

lemongrove Mon 09-Nov-20 09:46:25

Do stop being the forum police WW we are all entitled to opinions and musings.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Nov-20 09:45:45

I suspect there are posters on GN with Irish Catholic roots.

Not a particularly clever or pleasant remark, associating them with the IRA.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Nov-20 09:39:57

You have no evidence to suggest your opinion.

Dog whistling is what the American voter rejected.

It is time it was stopped.
