I think it is incredibly rude to get someone’s name wrong, intentionally or not.

The polite response to when this is pointed out would be an apology and a request to GNHQ to correct the OP.

As the culprit I suppose I had better put this to bed. I worked for many years with a lovely lady whose name is Preeti (correct spelling by the way) and is pronounced the same way as Priti. I did not realise there was an alternative spelling so I apologise for my cardinal sin to all those who are upset/angry about it. I would say GrannyGravy13 that I don't consider myself to be incredibly rude and would not deliberately do that. I will go and find my sackcloth to make amends.

The report has not been made public, so none of us really know what happened. My daughter is a civil service-trained HR professional and there are very strict guidelines about what constitutes bullying. If the report says she did bully, I believe she did.

JenniferEccles I don't suppose you've been bullied in your work. I have - by a female. I'm not a shrinking wallflower and I'm not a shirker, but that woman caused a life-changing mental health breakdown. If Patel has got away with the same kind of behaviour, she most certainly should be sacked. Unfortunately, bullies rarely are.

In my experience, I worked with very dedicated and hard working people - we went above and beyond on many occasions to help clients/customers. Yes, there was the odd colleague who was, in my opinion, lazy, but they were very much in the minority. Without Civil Servants how could the Government govern?

We have no idea whether or not the staff who were found to have been bullied by Ms Patel were or were not remain supporters, she is Home Secretary and like many before her, she is supposed to work with her staff, not against them. Does this mean that only those who support Brexit have a valid opinion? What about those of us who are desperately unhappy about Brexit, are we not entitled to have some representation too? I hope that those of you who excuse this affair, who seem to think that bullying, ignoring independent reports are not employers. I know you are desperate for Brexit, but do you have to completely ignore the usual standards and procedures of decent government to do so?

What is the point of an "independent" enquiry when the result is overruled by the Prime Minister? Yet another waste of tax payers' money.

Priti Patel is a strong woman who campaigned for Brexit, for a points based system on immigration, for greater police powers and much more which obviously appealed to the electorate who gave her party an eighty seat majority.
Some of the controlling and largely remain backing snivel servants have continuously worked against her and her frustration has been apparent.
In such a situation most of us would sometimes lose our composure. Most of us have had a forthright boss and had to toughen up, Civil Servants are not little kids straight from school, most are strong, opinionated, assertive and dare I say public school boys.
In my opinion the Prime Minister is right to back his ministers and show loyalty unless obviously a murder or crime of brutality has been committed.
I do acknowledge that bullying occurs and should be weeded out but a bullish bloke with years of experience crying bully against a minister with strong views that conflict with his or her own. Please.

If the Ethics Advisor to the PM runs an investigation into whether or not a minister has broken the ministerial code and 6 months later comes back and reports that she has I don't see where the space for equivocation is.

She broke the code, she should go.

Witzend if she was swearing at others, that's just a no no in the office. I worked in Local Government all my life and swearing at a colleague or customer was a sackable offence.

It just seems another case of one rule for us and another for them. Boris just does not seem willing to show strong leadership and sack her. You would have thought he would have learnt from all the furore over his decision not to sack Cummings back in May and how it dented trust in his government.

EllenVannin is right is it is a free country. And freedom means in a political workplace Civil Servants have the RIGHT to give advice and Ministers decide to accept/reject that advice. If Ministers do not accept advice and their policy goes wrong or, the Government of which they are part, is embarassed then in a free country a Minister resigns instead of blaming the Civil Servants who he/she did not listen to.

An independant investigation found she was bullying. The lead in this has now resigned.
Abuse and Bullying is about a power inbalance and is not a productive means of getting the best out of people.

I had a female supervisor who was a bully, she bullied only those beneath her in the pecking order. So if another minister says she is not a bully that’s because bullies rarely bully their superiors or equals. Not usually anyway.
Boris Johnson is weak and ineffectual and this,like the Cummings situation, does not help him one bit.

Mrs Threadgoode appears to be indifferent to "bullying at work". I hope Mrs Threadgoode is not an employer. She might end up in an ET with her attitude.

It's only a free country to those who agree with the half=cocked comments coming from those who they agree with. Any other point of view is wrong.

It comes to something when doing the right thing is tantamount to bullying. This is the way I see it anyway. Nobody dare open their mouth about anything----yet it's forever being called a " free country ". Well no it isn't !!
