Obviously, the Oprah interview with the Sussexes.

I will because I want to hear it straight from the source rather than media spin/interpretation so that I can comment later on what I saw and heard, when discussions start up as they surely will.

However, I don’t think they should be doing an interview at all (I felt the same about Diana and Charles interviews) these things end up backfiring against them.

Anniebach Why do you think someone would lie about it? And why do you think it’s unlikely that she in particular wouldn’t be susceptible, as we all are, to dark thoughts and mental illness?

Alegrias1 Wed 10-Mar-21 09:41:29

Piers Morgan just got sacked for saying that Annie

Or "decided to leave", believe whichever you like.

Anniebach Wed 10-Mar-21 09:37:42

I just do not believe she had thoughts of suicide, that she attended the event in the Albert Hall because she was to frightened to stay home. Harry could have had psychiatrists lining up in the drive.

I am angry with her, using mental illness to gain sympathy and kick her in laws.

If they can't survive on the interest on £40 million they need to downsize to a smaller home - as OAPs have to when they are no longer employed, have no nest egg to dip into, and only have their state pension.

tickingbird Wed 10-Mar-21 09:27:48

Anniebach Agree but if they weren’t media fodder they’d struggle to survive. They need to trade on being Royal to do that.

Anniebach Wed 10-Mar-21 09:12:13

They have made themselves media fodder

Katie59 Wed 10-Mar-21 08:59:39

£40 million is peanuts in the context of the lifestyle they have chosen, their friend Oprah is worth £2000 million, are they friends or media fodder.

"it seems to have come as a shock to him that he did actually need to provide"

How can one conclude this?

Grannynannywanny Wed 10-Mar-21 08:47:23

I agree Jaberwok. Harry has repeatedly said over the past couple of years how he needs to do this for the sake of his wife and family etc. After portraying himself as the manly provider and protector it seems to have come as a shock to him that he did actually need to provide as his father had cut off his allowance. 36 years old with a wife and family and expecting his father to provide financial support to top up the £40 million left to him by his mother. This interview highlighted how detached they are from the real world and what’s going on.

Jaberwok Wed 10-Mar-21 07:48:43

What I found jaw dropping, apart from the two weddings!!!, was that Harry seemed to be astonished and angry that he had to use his own money to support his family!! Does he seriously think that his father and the British taxpayer should fund their lavish lifestyle outside the RF in perpetuity? Unbelievable!

Luckygirl it is their hypocrisy. Saying they are leaving the formal RF and its relentless media interest to live a private life - and then it is made clear that this private life is for sale to the highest media bidder.

Yes!

Yes M0nica I think you’ve summed up the reasons so many of us are finding it difficult to show sympathy.

Luckygirl it is their hypocrisy. Saying they are leaving the formal RF and its relentless media interest to live a private life - and then it is made clear that this private life is for sale to the highest media bidder.

They are trying to have their cake and eat it. Their combined fortunes are already sufficient to buy themselves a good sized house with plenty of land and to then live off their investment income. Instead they have chosen to buy an expensive and opulent estate in the heart of California filmland and are peddling themselves and their (royal) lives to anyone who can afford it.

varian Tue 09-Mar-21 18:06:29

I suspect that William and Kate talking about home schooling was an attempt to identify with other parents across the land.

I'm sure they could have delegated any home schooling to staff in a way most other parents never could but they probably did put some time into it and just wanted to express solidarity with ordinary folk.

I've done a bit of home schooling of my grandchildren at a distance by zoom and have really enjoyed it, but my grandchildren are all older than the royal children and are very competent online, which is bound to make it easier.
