More good news for the family.

Anniebach Tue 16-Mar-21 13:33:12

Thank you FannyCornforth , I will post off topic and I hope
I will be forgiven.

3 years last November 1st I sat alone clutching a box of painkillers and my iPad, I chose the iPad and because of the lovely people here then, I didn’t die.

I wouldn’t give much hope for anyone reaching out here now

Whether it was public knowledge or not Fanny, which it isn't by the way, why on earth did you think it was appropriate to mention it in a thread about how the DoE had left hospital?

He's a real person who has been ill. Even a radical republican like me grin thinks he deserves some privacy and respect at a time like this.

I just treat this place as a virtual pub replacement to be honest
I type exactly the same things that I would say to a bunch of mates
I do my best to be polite and not offend any of the punters, but I definitely don't give a toss about upsetting the Duke of Edinburgh of all people (should he on the off chance be reading GN).
And I also didn't realise that affairs were so taboo these days.

It’s hardly unusual for some men from any walk of life to have
a bit on the side

Depends how you measure ‘unusual’ I suppose and if because some do it, it makes it acceptable

No FannyCornforth I know why many have left or rarely
post, not because they took topics too seriously, because of
the nastiness which is on this forum daily. and it is only one thread which causes me to stay

Why does it matter who’s left or who doesn’t post? I honestly don’t get it. Others come along, most stay. I think there are examples of ‘nastiness’ across the board ( not everyone obvs) but not everyone is capable of addressing their own shortcomings in this respect whilst swift to condemn others.

Mine had better not, Anniebach!

Annie flowers
I know what you are referring to, and thank you for that, it's good that you are here

Suzie I was joking.
'Do keep up', indeed, I don't know why you enjoy being rude
I am the same person who you are nice to on other threads you know

FannyCornforth Tue 16-Mar-21 13:20:22

I truthfully didn't realise that it wasn't more commonly known.
If I'd known that it was going to be so controversial I might have kept my trap shut.
It's hardly unusual for male members of the aristocracy to have 'interesting' love lives is it? It's been the stuff of music halls and satire for centuries.

Anniebach, yes, but happily I lost my bet today. I saw the post and bet my DH it wouldn’t make it past 3 responses before something not nice or inappropriate would appear.

Second time today then

Blimey! I'm offending public decency now! smile

Public decency is a different concept from basic decency - do keep up ?

Claws out yet again , how GransNet has changed , so many long standing posters have left

Oh dear

Alegrias1 Tue 16-Mar-21 13:13:45

Without making any assumptions -

are people upset because someone spread rumours about an elderly person's private life while they were on the way home from a life saving hospital stay, or

because some of us think standing up for a person's right to privacy at such a time is appropriate, even though we dislike the institution they represent?

FannyCornforth Tue 16-Mar-21 13:12:34

Annie I think that perhaps a lot of the 'bad stuff' happens, people leaving, people falling out etc is
because they just take it all a little bit too seriously.

(And I am fully aware and acknowledge that there are some very serious issues discussed in GN, I am not referring to them of course.)

Redhead56 Tue 16-Mar-21 13:09:08

Yes agree with you lockdown must be getting to people.

Hallelujah! Have to confess the length of his stay was becoming a bit concerning. Good for him and everyone else who is released from any hospital today.

Once again, thank you to whoever posted the news update about Prince Philip leaving hospital; I didn't know that.
