He had a good innings. I liked him, he was a feisty one who spoke his mind.

I thought the Harry and Meghan fan base would wait until at least tomorrow, but they can’t help themselves???.

Inevitable sadly, that criticism of Harry and Meghan is already appearing here.

I think that's an over reaction, Iam. I found the tribute puzzling that's all.

They do tend to invite it, though.

I feel so sorry for the Queen. He has been by her side for the whole of her reign and now she is without him. She must feel lost.

Felt so sad when I heard this.

1summer I think he was very astute, very intelligent and absolutely on the ball, always.

I'm really not sure what to make of Harry and Meghan's tribute on their Archewell website.

It's the kind of thing you would write about a loyal employee.

Oh! Strange.

My cousins two daughters both worked for the Royal Household and both very fond of Prince Philip. One worked in his private office and said he was very down to earth and always remembered names and personal details. They loved being at Balmoral with them. My cousin and her husband stayed on a property on Balmoral one summer to visit daughters and he greeted them on arrival. They were very shocked.

My son got over missing Teletubbies, nadateturbe.

I'm sure you'll manage without the dire Coronation Street which fills our screens day in, day out along with all the other numerous ghastly soaps.

I have learned to avoid them.

I appreciate that many like them but I don't. Yet they fill our screens for hours and hours.

Very sad news. I felt quite tearful when I heard. It's the end of an era. RIP Prince Philip.

grannylyn65 Fri 09-Apr-21 20:38:56

‘Archwell’ Really ?

Gannygangan Fri 09-Apr-21 20:37:35

Reading all the beautiful tributes from leaders and Royalty around the world, H&M's is cold.

Maybe they'll be more forthcoming in a phone call.

I’ve just looked it up and you’re right Merlotgran, it looks very stilted.

You wouldn’t think it relates to Harry’s grandfather at all, more a late, loyal employee.

Yeah, it's a bit cold and meaningless isn't it. I'd expect that kind of comment from someone who had never met him and was just paying lip service, certainly not from a grandson to his beloved great grandfather.

In Vanuatu they believed that Prince Philip was a God - that his body may remain in England but his spirit will return to Tanna (part of Vanuatu).

We had the privilege to visit Vanuatua and we feel for the lovely people of Tanna.

They have said that people may not understand his jokes because they are Vanuatuan.

Corrie will hardly make you feel better, the storylines are dire.

Well Calendargirl I enjoy it. I also enjoy Neighbours and that was cancelled too. Each to his own.
Never mind, Shtisel looks promising.
I hope you all enjoy your reminiscing.

I don’t understand the need for all 5 channels, but I will be watching on at least 1 channel.
I’m glad for those that are not interested, that Netflix and other options are available.
When sport is on every channel, I just read a book.

PamelaJ1 Fri 09-Apr-21 20:15:26

Maggiemaybe you are right about protocols. Went to a church meeting this afternoon to find out how to proceed and was given a to do list. Two hours later the instructions had changed.
A man who made a difference to many lives. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Maggiemaybe Fri 09-Apr-21 19:55:51

Protocols will be in place for the deaths of senior royals, and they’ll govern what can and can’t be shown today on the BBC at least. It doesn’t hurt to have a quieter day occasionally imho and I find these rituals quite comforting. The “contemplative” music on Radio 2 has been far superior to the usual offerings.

vegansrock Fri 09-Apr-21 19:51:27

No need to have 3 channels saying the same thing is there? Yes, it’s a shame, yes he had a long life, travelled around a lot, married to Queen etc. Never mind, plenty else to watch.

aquagran Fri 09-Apr-21 19:43:43

But anything is better than......

Calendargirl Fri 09-Apr-21 19:37:47

I’m in bed ill and was looking forward to Coronation Street

You must be a glutton for punishment, watching Corrie will hardly make you feel better, the storylines are dire.

nadateturbe Fri 09-Apr-21 19:35:51

I think Vegansrock understands, Gannygangan.
