They did take the form down for specific complaints about the coverage, suzie, as they said the numbers were dropping off. But they made it clear that people could still complain through the normal channels, by phone, online form or post. It’ll be interesting to see what the final figure is.

Just looking at the insistance of the media as to who the 30 attendees of the funeral will be. Does this mean there'll be a bloomin' week's inquest if there happens to be 31 ?

Nobody forces anyone to keep the tv on if they don’t like the content, or to read newspapers.How should the media have reacted to the death of Prince Philip ( or the Queen in future)?
A snippet at the end of the news or weather?
If 100,000 people complained they were missing Eastenders or whatever, then so what? How many live in the UK, many many millions, who didn’t complain.

No one is saying it should have been a ‘snippet’ and you know that. It’s a question of degree

I complained about a BBC reporter telling an actual lie on the News - I know it was a lie because I saw the event he was referring to in real time. I also complained about the inaccurate and sensational coverage of the pandemic. The first one, by the way, led to a demonstration outside BBC Scotland in Glasgow.

Both times, ignored. But schedules being cleared for the coverage of the death of a historic figure, everyone's up in arms.

I find it quite comical that every publication, respected or not, seems to have gone with the headline of the Beeb receiving 100,000 complaints. With the disclaimer “it is reported” or “allegedly” or “as published in the Sun” buried somewhere in the report.

It must be a slow news day.

They were making a valid complaint to the state broadcaster, who had specifically enabled them to do so.

But they did then take the online complaint form down do we’ll never know the true number.

I’m sure all 100,000 plus feel proud of themselves for having made the BBC aware of its error. There’s nothing like pointing out someone else’s faults to make you feel virtuous.

Are you implying that they shouldn’t have complained? Didn’t PP fight for a world in which people were free to complain? The BBC made a huge error and it’s not ‘virtuous’ to point this out as it’s the State funded broadcaster. I read today that 116 people complained that the BBC made it too easy to complain. Down the rabbit hole or what? ??

Yes, the DoE award should always be mentioned. It was prince Philip's greatest achievement. It now operates worldwide and ovwe 3 million young people have benefitted from it. No eulogy looking at him as a whole person should leave it out.
