Didn't PP say he wanted a no fuss funeral. Seems to me that 750 military personnel including marching bands is a heck of a lot of fuss. Not exactly following his wishes is it?. Compared to a full state funeral, 750 military personnel is a no fuss funeral!

Covid funeral rules ..yes it's about PP funeral
(121 Posts)The rules say only 30 people can attend a funeral and a lot has been made of the fact that the RF are following this rule. Now it seems that 30 people are going to be in the chapel but 750 members of the armed forces will be in attendance to do a bit of marching and band playing.
How come 30 means 30 to the rest of us but 30 can be 780 for this funeral?
Not being particularly anti RF. Just seems an unnecessary Covid spreading risk.
It seems we have a different definition of no fuss

The Royal Navy have published photos of part of the funeral rehearsal. Social distancing and masks. These sailors would've been tested and living as a bubble for a while too.
Pittcity. You are spoiling the ranters big opportunity to take a swipe at HM and her family!
Letting facts and truth intervene will not go down well!
Just in case anyone thought it would be a few Able Seamen in facemasks.

Anyway, I liked your suggestion trisher. I've thought that about a lot of events at the moment, that they should be very low key so that when we look back in 5 years, or whatever, we are reminded that this is a historic time.
Because of the limit on funerals here people have gone out and lined the route, self-distancing, as a mark of respect as the cortege drove past or have stood outside the church or crematorium.
The limit on numbers is in the church or chapel.
sorry, limit on numbers at funerals.
There have been so many over the past year of people we know, none Covid related.
I expect had the funeral taken place under normal times, there would have been thousands of military present, marching, riding horses, playing music, saluting along the route and in a procession. So it will be a much smaller affair with only 750 troops present to represent all the armed forces. I imagine that they will be in groups ie bubbles of troops who live and work as one household, possibly further apart than normal and well away from other groups from different regiments. There are so many people involved in planning this funeral that I’m sure it will be Covid safe.
The problem will be if people ignore the plea to keep away and go to watch it, then social distancing might be difficult. I don’t think I’ve seen any reports of the queen or close members of the RF breaking Covid rules, unlike many other “famous” people like celebrities, sportspeople, politicians, tv personalities etc.
And don’t get me started on the crowns of people who have been partying outside very crowded pubs in city centre this week - Borough Market in London was rammed!
Please, just leave the RF to grieve without this constant sniping and nit picking.

Charles and Camilla travelled to the Balmoral Estate at the start of the pandemic when we were all under a stay at home order. Charles managed to get himself tested when there weren't enough tests to cover Health Care workers. William and Catherine came to Scotland when cross border travel was not allowed (still isn't, actually). They said it was work. That's not sniping, its direct criticism.
I see it from a different view and I am not taking sides. Just say we were suddenly under threat. Military personnel would amass be deployed to protect us. Realistically would people concern themselves with the military not having masks and social distancing then?
Would Charles not have been tested when he had the virus ?
William and Kate were working when they crossed into Scotland

The sainted Wessexes and Cambridges ‘accidentally’ met up in Norfolk with their families at some Christmas lights thing on the Queen’s estate. By complete coincidence, they booked adjoining slots and so, as you do, just went round together in a group . That was nice for them wasn’t it.
I haven’t seen her maj in a mask
Yes suzie, how lovely. And I forgot about Peter Phillips visiting a friend in a wee village in Eastern Scotland, when he lives in Gloucestershire. The Police got involved.
I'm not going to criticise them any more than anybody else, but let's not pretend they are saints.
She wore one in Westminster Abbey visiting the Grave of the Unknown Soldier.

She wore one for the service at Westminster Abbey for the Unknown Soldier, I believe.

The cover was it was a ‘business’ trip. Yeah right
Are the crowds going to keep away as they have been asked to.?
The times I have heard on the news that the palace is telling people to just stay home and watch on T.V. is getting tedious.
I still think that Windsor will be busy on Saturday and people will be flocking there.
Also Buckingham Palace is also likely to see crowds out.
There seems to be fretting about whether or not crowds will gather in Windsor or at Buckingham Palace.
No problem with the crowds queuing to get into Primark, TK Max or multiple other shopping Centres on Monday? Has anyone not seen the videos from Soho and other entertainment/bar areas?
There hasn’t been a spike in Covid daily figures since the vigils or any of the protests against the Government last month?
If they were shopping in the high Street doubt they were wealthy so they are not criticised

I’ve seen the videos and I’m glad I live in a small well behaved market town.

Charles was confirmed to have Covid late March last year, when tests were being confined to people like health care workers and were not widely available. The rest of us were being told we'd get tested if our lips turned blue and we got sent to hospital. After he somehow managed to get himself tested, he and Camilla were mysteriously transported to the Balmoral Estate.
Downing Street, Holyrood and the Welsh Parliament were all lukewarm about William and Catherine's little jolly round the country just as we were all about to go back into lockdown, but Number 10 capitulated no doubt after some subtle pressure from the Firm.
'No flowers please' says the Palace, mindful of Covid restrictions in place.
Today, Prince Charles inspects the many flowers left in tribute by well wishers.
