What I think will happen tomorrow

That the SNP will do well
That Labour in Wales will do well
That Laurence Fox and Shaun Bailey will be humiliated in London
That my local council will stay LD
That Labour will hang onto its Mayors and do badly elsewhere

This is not a difficult prediction

ANGELA RAYNER HAS BEEN SACKED BY KEIR STARMER ‼️

Well obviously it’s all fault. Sorted. PS why did you shout ?

janeainsworth Sat 08-May-21 19:36:09

And news just in..... www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/politics/2021/may/08/angela-rayner-sacked-as-labour-chair-after-hartlepool-byelection-loss

That’ll put the cat amongst the pigeons I should imagine.

janeainsworth Sat 08-May-21 19:36:40

Sorry crossed posts suzie

Urmstongran Sat 08-May-21 19:36:53

Because I was totally shocked sw ?

Galaxy Sat 08-May-21 19:38:27

That's quite unexpected. Not a decision I would have made, or certainly not today anyway.

Urmstongran Sat 08-May-21 19:38:40

Now the in-fighting has started already in the Labour ranks. If I was Keir Starmer I’d resign. All this wouldn’t be good for my blood pressure.

Sorry if it appeared I was shouting.

Why ? It was obvs given her position. She’s still deputy leader (and she has got lovely hair)

No it started yesterday - do keep up ?

There does seem a move to voting for the incumbent to retain their seat. Not surprising considering we are still going through the pandemic. A bit of “always keep a-hold of Nurse, for fear of finding something worse”. I'm sure Churchill would have won if there had been an election during the war. Once it was over people felt they needed a change and that could easily be the feeling once they feel we are back to normal.

Urmstongran Sat 08-May-21 19:48:58

I’m obviously behind the curve politically. ?
No, don’t comment ...

Twitter keeps me up to date - it’s all a question of following the right people ?

Urmstongran Sat 08-May-21 19:53:40

Ah.
I don’t do Twitter. Or Facebook. So my own fact finding is pretty impressive then (says she, modestly).
?

Devorgilla Sat 08-May-21 20:10:36

Rumour on twitter has it that she is moving to another position. A case of wait and see.

Alegrias1 Sat 08-May-21 20:18:31

SNP on 64. One short of a majority. ?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 08-May-21 20:27:32

Annelise Dodds needs to go in my opinion!

PippaZ Sat 08-May-21 20:35:05

The Guardian reports that as a possibility GrannyGravy.

PippaZ Sat 08-May-21 20:37:26

Sorry, should have added www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/may/08/angela-rayner-sacked-as-labour-chair-after-hartlepool-byelection-loss

janeainsworth Sat 08-May-21 20:48:28

I posted that link at the top of this page PippaZ
It doesn’t actually mention Annelise Dodds hmmconfused

Urmstongran Sat 08-May-21 21:28:19

I heard mention of a shadow cabinet reshuffle earlier today. Mention was made about moving Annelise Dodds out. And bringing in the ‘big hitters’ Yvette Cooper and Hilary Benn.

Mind you ardent Europhiles I’m not sure bringing them into the shadow cabinet is the right thing to do. What do you all think?

Is there anybody you would approve of ? I doubt it.

Galaxy Sat 08-May-21 23:16:40

I like Hilary Benn a lot. I am not sure if simply a reorganisation of personnel is the answer though.

You’re right it’s not - there’s chicken and egg for one thing. Having sacrifices she of the wonderful hair, imo there needs to be a period of reflection and analysis and an eventual reorganised team to reflect the new direction. There, sorted, easy. It’s not a task I’d relish

Anniebach Sat 08-May-21 23:26:49

He needs a reshuffle, bring in Benn and Cooper and a few more
are wasted on the back benches

I agree with those two names but is a reshuffle a sensible first step?

It would be a beauty contest if you were in charge of the task Suziewink
