I've just read an article in the English language paper the Connexion. It names the PM as Boriscovi Johnson. Probably an error but rather good I thought.
Good Morning Saturday 9th May 2026
How did you vote and why today
I've just read an article in the English language paper the Connexion. It names the PM as Boriscovi Johnson. Probably an error but rather good I thought.
The nodding dogs will agree with everything the government does no matter what will find some way of defending them . There are even those who supported Scummings and Trump. I think Johnson said he could never thank the NHS enough - well he is the one person in a position to thank them properly and he’s just ignored it. When nurses’ pay was discussed before I remember someone saying at least they had a job and we should be sorry for those on furlough sitting at home on 80% of salary! No I didn’t make that one up.

I don't think you'll get much interest, Pippa. I started a thread which included this yesterday.
Zilch...
Yes. I mentioned it somewhere as well. I was expecting someone to say that it didn’t matter as she was planning to go back to New Zealand etc. She will be on a Ch4 programme about the the way the government have handled the pandemic. It will be interesting to hear what she says.
Spot on Grany.
If you were the PM and got struck down with covid and nursed for two days in intensive care, got better recovered. Wouldnt you make sure nurses got a decent pay rise, a thank you for all their hard work in coping magnificently with this pandemic (especially without proper PPE)?
It makes you wonder what sort of person he is, the PM whos life was saved wouldn't give nurses the pay rise they deserve and is considerably long overdue
So my advice would be, have a look and see if you have any local councillors who may be able to help and email them all about it. They seem to get things moving quicker than MPs (especially ours
who is on every bloody tv show going)
3nanny6, I completely agree with you. I have things going on in my personal life wrt my LA not doing it's job properly combined with a care provider who appears to blame covid for absolutely everything atm. Add on top two useless MPs. It is all a bit tiresome. There is honestly no excuse for half the incompetence. Luckily we have a independent town councillor who has really worked on our behalf and has pushed for things to be done but it's took MONTHS of frustration and letter writing and phonecalls. I actually think it is negligence.
I'm sorry I'm being so vague
but I can't really post about the actual issue

What does everyone expect of Boris ?
What sort of a reception would he have got if he'd " sealed " the country off for a year ? Nobody in, nobody out. Full restrictions.
Look at the protests there have been for anti-lockdowns.
Protests about anti-vaccines and anti-coronavirus.
It would seem there's no pleasing everyone.
The world doesn't just exist in black and white.
What do I expect from my PM? Genuine leadership, honesty and rational decision making, for a start.

I would expect him to act knowledgeably and decisively and honestly.
(And no I don’t know what. Robyn would have done as it’s irrelevant.)
I think the pay rise of 1% to nursing staff was an insult
and before I am shouted at about pay increases for police
and fire services then just shout. The N.H.S worked tirelessly
(they still are) and had to wear uncomfortable clothing masks and face shields all day and everyday and they done it without complaint and what did they get? Let's clap for the N.H.S. Clapping doesn't put food on the table it doesn't repair your car when a big bill comes in and it doesn't make you feel appreciated for what you are doing.
I am sick of this pandemic all this Covid everybody with councils closed offices shut and seemingly everything standing still. I had a neighbour die in January this year and almost 5 months later accumalated rubbish is still sitting in front of his house plus his car.
He lived alone and his son used to pop in and out and he left all the stuff outside and has never been back and the place is a disgusting eyesore. I have been on to housing the council and even my M.P. and still nothing has been done and it p****s me off. So while Bloody Boris sets about refurbishing his flat and paying £840 per roll for wallpaper and heaven knows how much for curtains some of us get nothing done in our area by any of the services that we pay our council tax for. We might have Covid but surely life goes on but not where I live it is like the back of beyond and getting worse.
All the country is interested in is about being allowed to go on holiday or arguing about the Royal Family and Harry at least they have castles and lovely environments to look out on. All this new stuff they are saying about plant a tree for the planet I would like to plant a few but not into the ground
they need planting elsewhere and I am too polite to say.
I'm so glad the nurse refused the photo op. They sometimes seem to be used like Sadaam's human shields.
Do hope it's true about the wallpaper Riverwalk
You forgot to add that in Boris world the £840 per roll wallpaper is falling off.
'Specialist decorators' have been called in!

Covid has really changed the dynamics in the care sector too especially for people with learning disabilities, something which doesn't seem to be being discussed. The coronavirus act has put disabled peoples human rights back by about 3 decades. It was supposed to be temporary and was pushed through despite opposition, when will it be lifted?
I watched newsnight last night, there was discussion around whether there should even be a green list wrt leisure travel.
I don't blame the nurse btw
Probably including me Maizie. I'm sorry I didn't see it.
I think those blind eyes will continue to be turned for some time.
Not so much clap for carers but crap for carers it seems. Not good.

So, disillusioned Jenny McGee, the NHS nurse who looked after the PM when he was in intensive care last year, has resigned. She cited the government’s 1% pay offer and the lack of respect it entailed. “I’m just sick of it,” she said. Many in the NHS are still dealing with the pandemic, many are exhausted. In an interview, JM disclosed that she couldn’t bring herself to take part in a ‘clap for carers’ photocall alongside the PM, not least as there was little cash for carers. I would personally back her every inch of the way especially as staff in England weren’t even given a Christmas bonus (unlike Scotland and Wales), let alone a real-terms pay rise offer.
Next Dominic Cummings rattled his cage again, suggesting he had argued for hard and fast lockdowns last year but was ignored. He also said that we have a "joke” border policy to deal with Covid. There will no doubt be more to come when he gives evidence to MPs next week.
Then there was the beginning of the fracas over the "Amber List" which looks set to continue into today.
Then he has to deal with the Tory leader of Bolton council’s warning that a new local lockdown would cause “civil unrest”.
Johnson will still go on wriggling, of that, I have no doubt.
