its easier to list the leftish papers, which are The Guardian and the Daily Mirror. The rest are Tory.

ps where has the News of the World gone?

Fennel Tue 01-Jun-21 20:22:34

I asked this partly because I'm concerned about the influence that the press have, and other media, on our choices. I include myself. We don't realise how much we're brainwashed. or don't want to realise it.
We can't get enough real facts to make rational decisions.

No, The Sun is also a Tory Party paper - or is that the same as a loony party paper?

In the words of "Sir Humphrey" the Sun readers don't care who rules the country as long as she has big boobs.

Is there a liberal paper or a green party paper i wonder, i imagine the sun to be a loony party paper .
A very strange question imo.
Some posts/threads can be such fun.

Fennel In all seriousness I think that most people who write on the News and Politics forum know the political influences of the English press and the owners.

I would be confused if you asked me that as it doesn't relate to the location of said newspaper! ?
There is a lot of venom towards certain newspapers where people don't believe they reflect their own political leanings, so you might get some strong views expressed.

It's like announcing "and in the blue corner we have ..... and in the red corner we have ".....grin

Hard to believe the Daily Express is unheard of shock

Talullah Tue 01-Jun-21 18:26:02

Would knowing if it was either Conservative or Labour help you locate it?

foxie48 Tue 01-Jun-21 18:21:14

I've never asked anyone that question and have never read the Daily Express but I do have online subscriptions to The Guardian and The Telegraph as I like to have a political balance, I also have The Washington Post for a US perspective. It's really interesting to see what's seen as important news and also to see the different balance of opinion.

SueDonim Tue 01-Jun-21 18:19:15

Gosh, I’d think that was a really rude question, if it wasn’t to somehow help in locating said newspaper.

Mollygo Tue 01-Jun-21 18:16:54

Fennel

ps it was because I'd never heard of the Daily Express.

Not heard of the Express?
So which newspapers have you heard of?

Dinahmo Tue 01-Jun-21 17:43:04

Yes I realise it was a strange question but it's something that interests me.
I must be getting Altzheimers.
She didn't seem to mind.

SueDonim Tue 01-Jun-21 17:32:13

Why would you ask if it was Conservative or Labour? confused

Galaxy Tue 01-Jun-21 17:27:36

No offense but if someone asked me that in Tesco I would move quickly away.

Fennel Tue 01-Jun-21 17:25:41

I was scanning the headlines in Tesco today when a lady asked me if I could see the Express? which I couldn't. I asked her if it was Conservative or Labour.
She looked very puzzled and at last said "I suppose it's Conservative."
Question is, do many of us know that what is published by the press is politically influenced?
