Anyone watching this now? He really does talk the talk doesn’t he. Has just stated that no health worker has died due to lack of PPE. At least Sarah Owen is now giving him a good grilling.

Its just been reported in the Independent that Cummings claims Johnson only let Hancock go after ‘89 texts an hour’ from wife Carrie

She's a fast typist!!

I may be wrong but I think on reading this thread that we have conservative voters who are in fact now saying this is a bridge too far ? And possibly even a,ightly criticising Boris. That would be good.

Decisive as ever. Nice to know who's in the driving seat at No10.

Having looked through Mr.Cummings Twitter page this morning, he is making little sense.

I believe very little that he says/tweets, he doesn’t like Mrs.Johnson and has a very large axe to grind since his departure from the No.10 inner sanctum.

^He said that he didn’t want Hancock to go.^

No of course he wouldn't want him to go! They've probably been providing alibis for each other's whereabouts for months.

? although quite honestly if I didn’t laugh I would cry. It is all so seedy and unpleasant.

It isn’t as if it is an isolated incident, there is so much going on, everywhere you turn there is something to make your hair stand on end.

How does anyone know what Johnson wanted or didn't want? Anything he says is purely what he thinks will make him more popular at the time. He has noconcept of loyalty so it's unlikely that came into it. Of course he may have thought MH could be blamed if it all went wrong. But he'll have some other incompetent lined-up now for the fall guy.

Another one late to the party! My worry now is, who will replace Handcock? In my worst nightmare, it may be, Gove!

Apparently Johnson positively did not want him to go.

How would that of worked? Like Cummings I suppose. Johnson seemed to have got away with it then until Carrie got involved.

I do think that Johnson is now very worried about the infection rate going up. But, as with the ERG, the Conservative Party has parties within parties and the covid recovery group is one of them. And I think they have ways of getting things done that suits their agenda. I find it very unsettling to be honest. Hancock no longer fitted in with their agenda. Paranoid, moi? You bet I am…..

Chewbacca Mon 28-Jun-21 12:54:56

Handcock !!!

What an appropriate Freudian slip, under the circumstances! grin

I'd be surprised if the government broke the law and failed to register the camera - but who knows?

Even if it was installed illegally and used for a purpose it wasn't intended, it doesn't really matter. It's possible the government could be fined, but the clock can't be rolled back. There's no disputing what happened and the outcome will be the same.

Nevertheless, it would be interesting to have the camera investigated because it might shed some light on who had it in for Hancock and what the hidden agenda is.

Casdon Mon 28-Jun-21 12:28:30

My guess is that security cameras are installed all over the building (which is quite reasonable for such a high profile and sensitive facility) and that he knew that was the case but just didn’t think about being captured on a camera in the heat of the moment.

JaneJudge Mon 28-Jun-21 12:06:51

I was just thinking when I have worked in cash office too, you always know it is there. You do forget though and no end of people still steal confused

25Avalon Mon 28-Jun-21 12:04:03

Quite so Jane Judge that’s why you have to tell people why it’s there and for what purpose such as to detect or prevent a crime.

It is not there to spy on people.

in some workplaces it is there as a security measure though. It also lowers insurance costs afaik but staff have to be told it is there. You can't just randomly film people/staff

Yes, you can in certain circumstances.

growstuff Mon 28-Jun-21 12:02:50

There is a proviso for monitoring staff at work without their knowledge if you think they're breaking the law.

There are legal implications about the Hancock video, but the damage (to Hancock) has been done. He has been judged by the public and (apparently) a large group of Conservative backbenchers.

Sorry stand corrected Hancock

25Avalon Mon 28-Jun-21 11:50:34

We have ccc at the football ground indoors and out. GDPR dictates that we have to display a notice telling people it is operational and for what purpose, otherwise it is not legal. Does the same not apply to offices?
