Rather than join the naysayers I have emailed GNHQ asking could they please remove the thread title plus the OP's message which I pointed out is occupying space on my screen unnecessarily and replace the title with something more relevant.
There are several posts from two Grandads who are trying to jolly things up to counter all the doom and gloom swirling around us and the last thing we need is the sort of negativity implied in your message.
Live and let live is still a worthwhile phrase to remember!

My water bill has increased. The statement shows that last year I used more water than in previous years. Perhaps it was all those extra cups of tea or coffee I drank when I was staying indoors. But then I did not spend money in cafes so perhaps it evens itself out.

Have you used more water? Have you any good water saving ideas?

Greta I had plenty of water saving ideas in 1976 when we had a long, hot summer with a drought and i had two lots of terry nappies to wash and they out stand pipes in the street!

Yes, Callistemon, I'm on a water meter. I blame the extra cups of hot drinks made with water. Years ago when I was feeding my babies my husband used to make me milk coffee made with only hot milk because" it will keep your milk production up". I never liked it and haven't drank it since.

My grammar is going. I haven't drunk it.

The only consolation is that it would probably be far more if you weren't on a meter, Greta.

My Dad had a water butt (actually it was Mum's old dolly tub) and I used to rinse my hair with rainwater (after straining out the dead mozzies etc!).

Yes, rain water is supposed to be excellent for hair rinsing. I wonder if it makes good coffee...

I very rarely go on Mumsnet these days, but posted quite a niche question about my ruddy cat yesterday, as they have loads of traffic.
Anyhoo, it seems that they are 'relaunching Mumsnet Talk' soon, with lots of new bells and whistles features. The have been very busy, according to big cheese Justine Roberts.
So that may go some way to explain why we have been left to our own devices; in the manner of latch key kids who do their own boil in the bag cod for tea.
MN really is so much a bigger concern than GN, you only have to spend a few minutes on it to see how fast moving and we'll populated it is.
They probably keep GN going as a sort of charitable, deversity friendly thing.
Perhaps they will let us use their old crumbly and decrepit site?
