I wish the media would leave this lady alone. Over the weekend she has been described as a private person and suffering from Long Covid after picking up the virus when her husband had it. After his revelations to her that his affair was about to be made public, her world must have been turned on its head. She has 3 children to care and support as well. It must be awful for her leaving her house to have cameras thrust in her face hoping to catch some emotion from the poor woman. Leave her be. Go and pester the ones responsible.

I do feel sorry for the partners and children. Having had my ex hubby also had a affair on myself. After a 18yr marriage.I know how they must be feeling, but I didn’t have the scum media in my face. I can’t remember the first few weeks after he left. I was in a world of my own trying to keep our home and kids as normal as possible. And crying heartbroken. But that soon changes and he tried to come back after the affair ended. Which most do. I just hope that their partners are strong enough to refuse like I did.

Whitewavemark2 Wow!!!! I'm shocked that anyone can be so insular as to assume that everyone has a Waitrose nearby, hard to believe I know but there are large area's of the country that don't.

Shameful behaviour from two people who work for our government Sadly Six children involved !!!
Give me strength to under some people’s lives and behaviour these days I just can’t find words to say how I feel

It's difficult enough to cope with your husband having an affair and deserting the family without it being made front page gossip. Martha Hancock doesn't deserve any of this.

We have a rubbish government that lacks any morality and an equally rubbish media. Let's get back to basics - truth, honesty, transparency and morality.

Dillonsgranma Tue 29-Jun-21 11:36:09

Poor woman. I’ve been there. It’s deeply heartbreaking and humiliating to know you weren’t enough for your husband. My heart goes out to her

Midwifebi6 Tue 29-Jun-21 11:34:06

It’s the gutter press again. What I don’t understand is if Hancocks girlfriend was / is his personal assistant then as others have said she was in his bubble so if that is the case he did not break Covid rules by kissing her. As for cheating on his wife and his children’s mother and causing all that upset yes he is a bastard.
So are the low life Sun reporter and whistleblower who tipped off the media.

I have one word describing the media in our country ars*ho**s the lots of them the government pay too much attention to them they seem to be scared of upsetting them

They are owned by the government, they call the shots.

romaroot Tue 29-Jun-21 11:31:33

I think anyone who did what they did haven't got their children's best interests at heart and should lose parental rights.
Mental harm is no different to physical harm. They are both guilty

antheacarol55 Tue 29-Jun-21 11:27:36

It’s is not news they should all be arrested for harassment, leave his family alone her heart mush be breaking

jocork Tue 29-Jun-21 11:25:00

It's bad enough finding out your husband has been having an affair and your marriage is over without the whole thing being played out in the public eye. What possible interest is there in how she is doing apart from amongst her friends and family.

I've been there, and the support of family and friends is what you need and for others to butt out! I wish her well and I hope she gets that aupport and is left alone by the press to rebuild her life with her children.

Rosina Tue 29-Jun-21 11:24:59

How bad must it be to have your world fall apart and then have to deal with your children's bewilderment, while ignorant reporters hound you hoping to see you cry or say something they can twist and put on the front page. I loathe the press - they are disgraceful and have behaved so badly during the pandemic with their scare stories and lies. They are like hunters after a fox - not happy till a living thing is suffering and torn to shreds.

Dooncaha Tue 29-Jun-21 11:22:23

With absolute respect to all previous input, are we not adding to the furore, speculation and judgement regarding what has, and is still occurring ?

Totally agree with everything that has been said. It's Matt Hancock's shame. She is now probably devastated along with trying to support 3 traumatised children. I'm sure many of us can empathise and have been in simular positions. Thankfully not in the public eye

Dorita Tue 29-Jun-21 11:11:09

I feel dreadfully sorry for her and the children.

Tiggersuki Tue 29-Jun-21 11:09:51

I totally agree with Chewbacca.
To be honest I feel totally sorry for all the children involved.
Matt Hancock should have been sacked a long time ago and he is the major one at fault here. Boris should apologise for supporting him and lying for him for so long

Alegrias1 Tue 29-Jun-21 10:53:36

Rosie51 grin

Rosie51 Tue 29-Jun-21 10:38:50

Oh Alegrias1 Waitrose would be having a fit at that cartoon, we all know it should be fewer not less grin

Whitewavemark2 how can you be so out of touch with reality as to assume everyone has a Waitrose nearby? I live in London, and my nearest Waitrose is still too far away.

Callistemon Tue 29-Jun-21 10:36:05

Sorry I should have made myself clear but I thought most people have a Waitrose near them - I was obviously wrong.

Yes, wrong! Some of us live outside the bounds of civilisation.

I think I said on the other thread that I feel swindled out of my free newspaper because it's not offered with an online delivery.

Callistemon Tue 29-Jun-21 10:33:06

Galaxy

Although of course there was the hand on arse exemption for us all.

Is hand on arse equivalent to an elbow bump?
Will hand on arse become the norm in future for greeting friends and colleagues?
Do both break self-distancing guidelines or is it Covid-safe?

Chewbacca Tue 29-Jun-21 10:31:20

Me too Ellianne envy (not envy)

Ellianne Tue 29-Jun-21 10:30:01

I shudder now MawBe to think I used to pick up discarded Metro papers on the tube where people had dribbled their morning coffee.

Alegrias1 Tue 29-Jun-21 10:29:36

Sorry I should have made myself clear but I thought most people have a Waitrose near them

You don't get free papers at Lidl. Just the leaflet for next week's special offers.

Oh, for a Waitrose..... hmm

MawBe Tue 29-Jun-21 10:26:14

Whitewavemark2

I’m not sure you quite understand. Re Waitrose

Newspapers are on sale. As a customer spending more than £10 I am entitled to a free newspaper from which I take from the newspaper stand. I can take it home to read.

So unless you think all newspapers should be banned I think that you will agree that the free Waitrose newspaper is acceptable.

Sorry I should have made myself clear but I thought most people have a Waitrose near them - I was obviously wrong.

Don’t laugh
I always take the “ free with £10 “ paper from the back of the pile thinking nobody else will have touched it!
Of course being MawBroon I always go for one of the broadsheets (you get more for your “free” ) and would never have a redtop as I think they are rubbish and don’t like them anyway having no need for one with no budgie whose cage needs lining)
PreCovid I would take an Evening Standard from the pile, at Euston for the journey home but never one that somebody had left on their seat.
To be fair, I think the reference to “free papers” was to the rack available for customers to read while they have their coffee.

Ellianne Tue 29-Jun-21 09:04:39

I understood. Useful unread for lining the cat box too.
