Last year was bad in the UK.

Let's imagine the majority of people in the UK change their mind about leaving. Comes a new PM next election, who is pro EU and wants to negotiate a return, with the backing of a strong majority of the population, say 65% + -
what would the EU say?
As many headlines around the world have been saying this week- Can the UK ever be trusted again?

According to the IMF projected figures Britain’s economy will grow by 7% this year whereas Germany’s is only 3.6 with France at 5.8.
Why wouldn’t they want us back with those figures but with those figures why would we want to?
We are starting from a lower base!
Not with Johnson in charge, that’s for sure.

Could you try this? I have taken the end of the address off so it might work
We have a winner!
It works, Pippa

In 2020 the economies of the UK, France and Germany shrank by 10%, 8.2% and 4.9% respectively.
So at the end of 2021, the size of the UK economy will be 96% of what it was at the start of 2020, the French economy 97% and the Germany economy 99%.
Looks a bit different when you look at it that way, doesn't it?
Me too. Same gambling page. Pippa yes,it would be nice if people did change their minds about what's happened and just admit it.

How weird. I did check it. Maybe the computer was getting bored and thought the gambling was more interesting
I had the same MaizieD and my gambling page was in French!

I think each side will blame the other for some time to come Alegrias1. However, a few may see the flaws in what they were told if/when it doesn't turn out as they expected. It would be nice to think people would change their minds as the results of leaving become obvious.
The Great Brexit Divide – Approval Of Johnson And Starmer – By Referendum Vote And Social Class
Oh, Pippa, your link initially took me to a sort of gambling page. I closed that, tried the link again and I got the right result!
Just in case other people try it and think they've been hacked...

Forty years of anti EU reporting were bound to have an effect. Now that we have left we will blame them for not letting us have our cake and eat it.
From the London Economic:
'Boris is about to shred his own Brexit deal – and Britain’s reputation with it.
A man who puts ideology above all else is not a man who should be trusted.'
I used to wonder to myself, who will the Brexiters blame for all our troubles once we have left the EU?
And the answer is.....the EU
So how long do the EU stipulate you have to be a member of the ‘club‘, or have countries no choice about leaving. You know I left a gym membership a few years ago, with 6 months left, it was clique and unfriendly, but they were fair, and I just had to pay for the 6 months left. Not for a hundred or more years, and they didn’t punish me for leaving either.
I think that even if it were explained to you in words of one syllable you wouldn't accept the explanation as valid, Lincslass, so why bother to pose the question?

I also don't understand why people blame the EU for the disaster that is Brexit.
We joined the EU having read and I suppose, fully understood, the rules. Thatcher, by swinging her handbag was able to get some favourable treatment. If you want to leave an organisation of any size where money is involved you have to follow the rules. The favourite example often given on here seems to be a golf club, or it could be a gym. If you want to leave partway through a membership period it will be within the rules if and when you get part of your subscription back. You could of course flounce off and not get anything back which is what the extreme right of the Tory Party wanted. Not that I can imagine Rees Mogg flouncing anywhere.

"I think possibly all the barriers put up by Europe to delay and frustrate Brexit, will never be forgotten"
Allsorts, can you explain what those barriers were, please.

It is utterly unbelievable that some people still blame the EU for the absolute mess Johnson and co put us in in signing this Deal, which clearly left us with major problems, which are not in any way, shape or form- the fault of the EU, and were very clearly warned about.
Not AQA. AKA. Teacher speak on the brain!
Exactly. Project Fear. AQA we do what we want and hell to the consequences.
There is, and we have different hopes and different dreams- yes, it takes all sorts- and our sort will soon be on our way. Our children and grand-children hopefully will know better.
The EU has not put up an barriers ro delay or frustrate Brexit - they are insisting that the Deal negotiated over a very long period of time, and signed in good faith- is adhered to. And quite rightly too. Why on earth would you expct them not to. What was in the Deal was there for all to see- all experts in the field warned Johnson, again and again, of the inherent problems that it would lead to.
They called it 'project fear', ignored all the warnings and signed. And you say it is the fault of the EU?!? Really?
I think possibly all the barriers put up by Europe to delay and frustrate Brexit, will never be forgotten, as won’t the actions of tge deluded Remainers who didn’t and don’t believe in democracy, so hopefully we haven’t a cat in hells chance of wanting to do a u turn, in fact it’s made everyone more determined that ever not to go back there, it just showed people for what they were which wasn’t nice. Continue to dream, where there’s life there’s hope.?
Has the demand to " get our sovereignty back " helped the Johnson govt with ignoring the parliamentary rules and the loss of integrity and decency?
