All of our lamenting and hand wringing does not absolve men of their heinous acts ! Men created the Afghan issues, men abuse women and men in that country! Men made the decisions to invade then leave!
I would like the opportunity to sponsor an Afghan woman to support her and her education but she would never be able to use it ?‍♀️
I am beyond r we ordered over this terrible unjust situation !!

Some men not all men. A lot of men have lost their lives fighting against these heinous acts and I think you should show them some respect and not lump them in with those doing those acts.

Absolutely heartbreaking. The absolute terror the parents of those young girls must be living through every day must be awful. They must dread the door bursting open and seeing their little girls being taken from them.
If there is a true God why would he let this happen to innocent people.
We must go back to try to help them. Evil must not be allowed to taken over and esculate throughout the world.

God does not "let this happen" man does, this world is made up of good and evil, it is up to us which we choose, we all have free will. Choose wisely. ?

Honestly, if I was female and had young daughters in Afghanistan, I’d be considering the unthinkable and trying to ensure I had some means of doing away with us all. There are some fates worse than death. ?

I haven't added anything to this thread as I am finding it all unbearable but yes, I thought that the other day, SueDonim, as I thought of my own daughters and granddaughters.

Like every civilized person , I am so horrified what is happening in Afghanistan particularly to women and girls. It beggers believe , so distressing to think about it and as for watching the news!!! I feel so low and so helpless . The scene at the airport is horrifying , but as one poster mentioned they are they all men, where are their wives / female relatives?

It's just horrific - terrible punishments already being meted out even for listening to music. This is not 'God's will' - this is, as always with these barbaric ignorant brutish people, religion twisted to suit their depraved ideology. I shudder for the future of women and girls in Afghanistan.

Just horrible what's being reported on the kind of lives women and young girls will have with the Taliban in power. Can't help but notice all the crowds running on the runway at Kabul Airport are men. I appreciated there will be many men at risk if they worked for foreign agencies but why no women and children with the men?

I'm sorry, but I think that's a horrible thing to say.

It's the able bodied young men who have the greatest chance of surviving the rigors of the journeys they have to make of establishing themselves in a new country so as to be able to send for their families to join them. (Of course, this will not apply so much to Afghans, who would, I suspect, find it impossible to get their families out later)

But then, we know very well that it isn't exclusively young men who leave, else why do women and children, too, end up as fatalities in drowning incidents?

And please don't portray them as cowardly. You have no idea what conditions apply in their native lands or what opportunities there might be for resistance.

these actions show the UK is not to be trusted. Blood will be on our hands . Not just the female sex but the charity workers, the Afghanistan nationals that worked with the West.

I can't help wondering why they are not staying to protect their women and make a stand for their country. This is probably a simplistic view of the situation, but it does make me wonder.

I feel very sad for all ‘ordinary’ people in Afghanistan. We don’t know how lucky we are.

It's a desperate situation. My nephew did 2 tours. He lost a couple of friends. But their time there wasn't tasted. I feel so sad when someone says this because it makes their lives seem wasted. They were sent over to keep a semblance of peace and to start to educate the girls. A lot of good was done. It's heartbreaking to see USA and UK pull out with such haste. Was it not supposed to have been a gradual process? Chief military personnel were urging Biden to think again but what's done is done.

I support the Nowzad dog sanctuary. I've sent a donation and hope that they can continue their work.

As for the girls it's so sad for them.

My heart breaks for those children, watching the news and seeing those poor wee mites, those little babies who have the most horrendous future ahead of them. Its not right having those savages ruling over them, it's shameful.

I only hope that minds wiser than mine can find a solution. This is so huge and overwhelming. In case prayers help I will pray. The evil is beyond imagining, how can this terrible enforcement of such vile treatment of other human beings be happening?

So the well equipped and trained Afgan army decided not to put up a fight! How many of these men would be quite happy to see the women in their families returned to their traditional place in the family under their command. We see it in this county in the Pakistani communities where young girls are tricked to returning to Pakistan only to be married of to a close relative then expected to obey the mother-in- law. I believe marital rights were claimed by husbands in this country up till 1990's when the offence of rape within marriage became law. I have no doubt many men would like a subservient wife.

I already said on another thread that the Afghan army, although well trained and equipped and in great numbers have just laid down their arms and fled. Could it be because they actually agree with Taliban rule! What about their reputation as fierce warriors?
I’ve also read that some of the interpreters for the Allied Army were also reporting back to the Taliban over the years so we have to do a careful screening if any that want asylum here.
I just feel desperate for the women, children and yes, some of the men who want a fairer peaceful society.
