The self important way she carries on is extremely illustrative of how she sees herself. I've met her.
She's the First Minister. She runs the country. She knows how to use a hairbrush.

This may be a pot shot too far, now they seem to be including the Queen in their self- righteous whingeing.
(Not that I am biased)
Apparently Duke and Duchess of Sussex believe the Queen failed to take “full ownership” of the race allegations made in their interview with Oprah Winfrey, according to the authors of the unauthorised biography Finding Freedom.
A “friend of the couple” (unnamed, of course) has apparently told Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand that the Queen’s lack of action had prevented the Duke and Duchess from moving on from the claims.
The source also suggested that the Queen’s assertion that “recollections may vary” had not gone down well.
(It did however rank IMHO as one of HM’s all-time greatest bons mots )
The Queen has until now been one of the only senior members of the Royal family to escape the Sussexes’ criticism, but this new epilogue to Finding Freedom, published in People magazine in the US, suggests that the Duke and Duchess feel frustrated that the Duke’s grandmother did not follow through with her promise to address their concerns.
It says: “The Queen’s ‘recollections may vary’ comment ‘did not go unnoticed’ by the couple, who a close source said were ‘not surprised’ that full ownership was not taken
Just one question, if this book is “unauthorised”, does it or does it not reflect their views? Or is it an example of letting somebody else put words in their mouths so that they can deny them afterwards if necessary? All these “unnamed friends,” and “close sources” - aye, right.

Lets face it - this thread is really all about women who don't know their place.
Actresses, mistresses, elected leaders of countries.... ?
I’m not a royalist and couldn’t care less about any of them, but I think Harry and Meghan should take into account the Queen’s advancing years.
I would never have accused my late Grandmother of anything so awful at that age, shame on them
She is First Minister. Id be willing to bet she is proud of that achievement and would not be remotely interested in being a royal.
Its a standard criticism up here Lucca. She takes charge, she expects people to pay attention to what she says because she's the elected FM so she get accused of acting like Royalty. Female leaders are meant to be compliant little women who get their way by batting their eyelashes and asking nicely, not by walking in and taking charge.
BTW - Former SNP politicians decline all offers to be in the Lords.
If offered

Well obviously
I have no opinion of H or M. However, what I cannot understand is why two people, any two people, who keep saying how much they hate the press and how horrid they are and how they want to hide away where the press cannot see them then seem to spend so much time trying to grab as much prime time attention as they can before retreating to complaining that the press are hounding them etc etc and repeating the cycle.
I just wish they would both do as they say and go away and sink into the obscurity for which they are both so richly qualified and which they say they so deeply yearn.
……sink into the obscurity for which they are both so richly qualified…..

Piers Morgan has been cleared by OFCOM over his criticism of Meghan by saying he ‘didn’t believe a word of her claims’ during the Oprah interview.
Common sense at last!
Yes it's great news isn't it merlotgran. I can't remember who, but someone has said that it's ridiculous for any criticism of MM to be construed as racist. Precisely what some of us have been saying on GN since for months.
Allegedly MM 'phoned the CEO of ITV when she complained 'woman to woman and mother to mother'!!!
It wasn't because it was seen as racist, wonder why you brought that up?
It was because he doubted her experience of mental health issues. And the judgement was finely balanced and only went the way it did because Susannah and the other chap immediately countered what he said. ITV told to be more careful in the future.
Not really "St Piers", after all.
What about Andrew
He didn't just doubt her experience of mental health issues, PM also doubted that a racist remark had been made by a member of the RF with regard to Archie before he was born.
My reason for bringing it up Alegrias is because time and time again, when posters have criticised MM there have been accusations of racism from other posters.
The judgement may have been "finally balanced" but that doesn't alter the fact that PM has been cleared by Ofcom.
No one as far as I'm aware regards PM as "St Piers"; wonder why you brought that up.
What about him Grany?

Brilliant.
I thought ‘whataboutery’ was frowned upon on these threads!!
Just a thought, but the newspapers in this country ride the ‘royalist’ gravy train; stories of royalty are known to boost sales of newspapers. So if the country becomes a republic the newspapers will lose out. Are we perhaps going to see a softer tone from the red tops when Charles ascends the throne, for fear a Republic may become a reality?
I doubt it grannyactivist but maybe that's because I just don't think this country will ever become a republic.
I wonder.
Is support for the Monarchy as strong today as it was even as recently as 30 years ago?
I think it’s generally agreed that the older generation are more in favour of it than younger people, so if that trend continues, who knows what will happen a few decades hence.
Having said that William and Catherine and their family are I believe well liked across the age groups so they could ensure the survival.

Yes, you're right of course Smileless2012, sorry for missing that bit out.
But seeing as we're being detail oriented: it was actually ITV who were cleared and when it comes to Morgan, Ofcom said restricting his views would be a "chilling restriction" on free expression but criticised his "apparent disregard" for the subject of suicide. ITV were also said to have provided adequate protection to viewers from potentially harmful and highly offensive statements about mental health and suicide
So you can be a right s*** as long as you say its free speech and your employer make sure they put the other side as well.
"So you can be a right s* as long as you say its free speech ....." and as long as you're saying it's your truth and are the D & D of Sussex.
That's the wonder of British law. You can rely on free speech whether you're a duchess or a bitter old hack
Indeed, so when taking advantage of British Law when it comes to free speech it's hypocritical to say the least, to try and deny that right to others isn't it.

What about him Grany?
When the Queen 'summons' Prince Harry to the palace the tabloids all start bashing one out.
When the Queen refuses to do anything about her sleazy son amidst a paedophile enquiry...the tabloids say - it's got nothing to do with her, poor old lady, must be hard...
