“Recollections may vary”. Harry and Meghan (again - I know!)

This may be a pot shot too far, now they seem to be including the Queen in their self- righteous whingeing.
(Not that I am biased)
Apparently Duke and Duchess of Sussex believe the Queen failed to take “full ownership” of the race allegations made in their interview with Oprah Winfrey, according to the authors of the unauthorised biography Finding Freedom.
A “friend of the couple” (unnamed, of course) has apparently told Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand that the Queen’s lack of action had prevented the Duke and Duchess from moving on from the claims.
The source also suggested that the Queen’s assertion that “recollections may vary” had not gone down well.
(It did however rank IMHO as one of HM’s all-time greatest bons mots )
The Queen has until now been one of the only senior members of the Royal family to escape the Sussexes’ criticism, but this new epilogue to Finding Freedom, published in People magazine in the US, suggests that the Duke and Duchess feel frustrated that the Duke’s grandmother did not follow through with her promise to address their concerns.
It says: “The Queen’s ‘recollections may vary’ comment ‘did not go unnoticed’ by the couple, who a close source said were ‘not surprised’ that full ownership was not taken
Just one question, if this book is “unauthorised”, does it or does it not reflect their views? Or is it an example of letting somebody else put words in their mouths so that they can deny them afterwards if necessary? All these “unnamed friends,” and “close sources” - aye, right.

Who is Princess Alexander? If you mean Princess Alexandra , then I for one have never understood her to be racist, or utter a racist comment. In fact as she is so rarely in the public eye, she doesn't utters much at all .

That's correct it was not her I meant princess Michael of Kent..
There are so many in this extended family difficult to to keep track.

It was an aide who told the Queen that an ambassador she was about to meet was “a gorilla”.

He was a white, gangly American with an unfortunate gait.

In assuming he was black rather shows your racist tendencies I’m afraid.

In the film about the RF which queen banned. You can hear her talking to PP and Charles that the man looked like a gorilla I can show you a clip of the banned film from Republic YouTube channel to prove it actually.

Well bully for you. Honestly my niece, yes niece, wondered if her baby’s skin would be light or dark, would they take after his daddy or her, wondered what colour baby’s eyes would be. Nothing racist whatsoever, just people being curious. Don’t tell me you never wondered what colour hair eyes etc your family’s baby’s would be. Want to know what real racism is, talk to my family member when he went to live outside his home country.

Queen exempted herself from new anti racist discrimination laws. Which still stand today. So can't say RF are not or have been recast.

Grany Sat 02-Oct-21 20:26:18

Racist

Peasblossom Sat 02-Oct-21 20:28:51

Princess Michael of Kent married into the Royal family. Heaven help us if we have to be responsible for our in-laws.

Do you accept that it was your assumption that was racist Grany?

It’s important that we are all prepared to accept and work on our unconscious racist tendencies.

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 20:31:18

The Queen cannot have exempted herself from any laws , she
cannot be charged or arrested

Grany Sat 02-Oct-21 20:37:28

Queen made a joke about and laughed with family thought it was hilarious that the person she saw and related back and said he came in and he looked like a gorilla Now how would anyone hearing that not think queen was being rude about someone whoever that person was.

I have never been racist I don't think like that about anyone.

Oh well that's ok then ?

?

Peasblossom Sat 02-Oct-21 20:39:57

But your assumption was racist.

You heard the word gorilla and assumed that referred to a black person and was a racist comment.

You made the racist assumption. Can’t you see that?

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 20:43:05

I have made comments about what someone reminds me of,
but I am not a perfect human being.

And I even said when my darling daughter was pregnant
‘I wonder it it will have your dark hair or it will have it’s
Daddy’s red hair’.

Oh the shame , not

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 20:44:45

Grany she cannot be charged for breaking any laws .

The Queen v The Queen

How rude.

I'm actually in quite a good mood because I'm watching Strictly.

You've never seen me upset.... ?

Grany Sat 02-Oct-21 20:55:04

We are talking about the RF here. Heaven forbid there would be a person of colour in the mix.

They like to think they are better than anyone else, Royal, blue blood, though with their gene pool of marrying cousins I don't rate it. grin

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 21:24:22

I don’t think you like them Grany. you drop so many hints,

I am so sorry to shock you but Megan is ‘a person of colour’

Alegrias1 Sat 02-Oct-21 21:28:28

Who's Megan?

Oh, Meghan

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 21:35:03

Really Annie, I think I knew that about Meghan. confused

But with their anti descrimiation racism laws that they have been exempted from it is not to be wondered at as to why they would discuss or be worried about Archie's skin colour, get my drift? gringrin

I think that's enough waste of time on this subject

Smileless2012 Sat 02-Oct-21 22:03:25

Discussing Archie's skin colour is one thing Grany being worried about it is another thing entirely.

I agree there's been "enough waste of time on this subject" so maybe someone could tell Harry, and then he might stop using this accusation as sword of Damocles to hang over the heads of his family.

Lucca Sat 02-Oct-21 22:03:51

Yes Megan

I’m curious as to why you do that Annie? Is there a reason ?

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 22:13:30

Yes Lucca

Anniebach Sat 02-Oct-21 22:16:52

Agree Grany a waste of time, I am pleased for you that have decided this, so much anger can’t be good for you
