What colour car do you have or did you used to drive?
This may be a pot shot too far, now they seem to be including the Queen in their self- righteous whingeing.
(Not that I am biased)
Apparently Duke and Duchess of Sussex believe the Queen failed to take “full ownership” of the race allegations made in their interview with Oprah Winfrey, according to the authors of the unauthorised biography Finding Freedom.
A “friend of the couple” (unnamed, of course) has apparently told Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand that the Queen’s lack of action had prevented the Duke and Duchess from moving on from the claims.
The source also suggested that the Queen’s assertion that “recollections may vary” had not gone down well.
(It did however rank IMHO as one of HM’s all-time greatest bons mots )
The Queen has until now been one of the only senior members of the Royal family to escape the Sussexes’ criticism, but this new epilogue to Finding Freedom, published in People magazine in the US, suggests that the Duke and Duchess feel frustrated that the Duke’s grandmother did not follow through with her promise to address their concerns.
It says: “The Queen’s ‘recollections may vary’ comment ‘did not go unnoticed’ by the couple, who a close source said were ‘not surprised’ that full ownership was not taken
Just one question, if this book is “unauthorised”, does it or does it not reflect their views? Or is it an example of letting somebody else put words in their mouths so that they can deny them afterwards if necessary? All these “unnamed friends,” and “close sources” - aye, right.

There are no Vice Admirals in the Grenadier Guards Grany
Charleygirl5
I do not understand why Harry and Meghan remain Duke and Duchess. The titles appear to rake in the money.
I assume it’s because he was born into the RF and the brother of the future heir to the throne.

There are no Vice Admirals in the Grenadier Guards Grany
I think it was me who asked the question, not Grany
So what is the point of having a Vice Admiral as a senior honorary person in the Grenadier Guards?
Grany
Should Prince Andrew be stripped of his military ranks?
And from all the medals Edward has it must have been a hell of a 2 weeks in the Royal marines
Although it was longer than two weeks, your comment did make me laugh Grany ....good one!?
I really enjoyed Camilla on Gardeners world. Nell loved her
I don’t agree with these honoury titles being given to members of her family by the Queen. In my opinion they should be given to people who have actually served in the armed forces. I also think we should get rid of the titles of Duke/Duchess, and Earl of wherever etc. I don’t agree at all with these tiles and I particularly don’t agree with the Queen bestowing them on her family who haven’t earned them. It’s like something out of the Middle Ages. I think Prince, Princess, Queen, and King are all the titles we need.
Allowing Andrew to keep his honoury titles is in extreme bad taste in my opinion. I realise he hasn’t been tried, let alone found guilty, but given the amount of bad press about this affair, and the fact that Andrew has supposedly been removed from public life, then the honoury titles should be removed as well. Harry has quite rightly had his removed, although I think he should have the Duke of Sussex removed too. He was born a Prince and that can’t be removed I believe.

So did I JaneJudge. As the wife of the heir to the throne it would be good to hear more about her and the good work she does and less about those other members of the royal family who are currently monopolyising the news.
Camilla is of no interest to the press or many of the public, she
is the wicked woman who broke the heart of the sainted Diana,
the woman in grey who Diana spotted as she walked down the aisle of St.Paul’s Cathedral.
Once Charles becomes King - if he manages to outlive his mother - Camilla will be of huge interest. I can see it now. Front page articles in the tabloids on whether she will be Queen Consort, or merely Princess Consort. I am sure she is a very nice woman who has made Charles happy, but there is probably too much baggage. She will not get an easy ride in 5-10 years time.
A divorce and second marriage is too much baggage !
Annie, for the ordinary people of this country it's no handicap at all, but for poor beleaguered Prince Charles its the work of Satan! People are so hypocritically disaproving, by making all this fuss over Camilla who by all accounts would make an excellent Consort in supporting Charles when he finally becomes king.
Jabbereok so true.
The fact that Charles became heir to the throne when only 4
years old is ignored
He dated Camilla , she married, they remained friends part of a country set, he is godfather to one of her children =
they had an affair through out their first marriages .
Anne dated Andrew Parker Bowles, they remained friends part of a country set, he is godfather to one of her children = !
A divorce and second marriage is too much baggage. My ex sister-in-law came up against that attitude when she applied for a job over 30 years ago. How many on GNare carrying ‘too much baggage’?
A divorce andf second marriage is not too much baggage for me. I like Charles and Camilla.
I'm not perfect either.
There is the small matter of him becoming Defender of the Faith although the Church of England has relaxed its strict views on divorce and remarriage.
It doesn't bother me now, and I am not aware of there being a great deal of fuss being made, although people were disapproving, me included, when the news of their relationship first broke. Didn't like Diana, but she was a very young mother with children when they began their affair.
Really nice to see positive answers. Of course none of us is perfect and many many of people have marriage difficulties, finding happiness with another partner. Although sad, for most people this is now accepted without any stigma whatsoever, but for poor Prince Charles it is still, for some, a mortal sin.
Rekindled their affair, not began it. Diana ( in 1985) had already fallen for and started an affair with Barry Manakee her married bodyguard which a year later led to his dismissal. James Hewitt followed in 1986,and quite a few after him. So fault on both sides it would seem
A divorcee marrying in the Anglican Church is accepted,
Megan was divorced.
Charles and Camilla were married in a registry office and then
had their marriage blessed in Church.
Totally agree with your post at 10.22 Jabberwok Camilla will make an excellent Princess Consort, she and Charles make a good team.
I hope she will be Queen consort .
When they are filmed on visits they look so happy together and
neither hogs the camera.
I wonder why, given the circumstances of Charles and Camilla’s wedding (not allowed to marry in church due to Camilla’s divorce and ex husband still alive) that Harry and Meghan were allowed to marry in church with a big televised wedding. We were only allowed to see photographs of Charles and Camilla outside the church. Meghan’s last husband was both still alive and Jewish, and it has been reported that Meghan converted to Judaism in order to marry him. She then was baptised and confirmed into the Church of England in order to marry Harry. I don’t understand why the two couples were treated so differently.
Make a good team of spending public money day in day out They don't work hard none of the RF work hard they hardly work at all.
There is no payback in tourism
Monarchy is ridiculous
Wills can't wait to get the Duchy after Charles guaranteed over £20 million and increasing, which should go to the treasury No corporation tax or capital gains tax even though MPs say they should pay tax. And the tennents are not allowed to buy their land.
Give it a rest Grany we all know where you are coming from and your anti-Royalist posts are becoming increasingly predictable and less relevant to the thread title.
I can only suppose that either attitudes have changed over the years, or that Charles and Camilla took the Churches teachings seriously, and Meghan and Harry regarded their nuptials as just a 'spectacle' so an exception was made for them. After all remember, what 'Meghan wants Meghan gets', and this would have been no exception! The RF , as it turns out foolishly, bent over backwards to accommodate these two about every thing they wanted. Talk about the road to hell etc etc!
