Harry does Something Commendable Shock!

Last night Harry made a speech at the GQ Awards.
He presented Prof Catherine Green, and Prof Dame Sarah Gilbert with the GQ ‘Heroes of the Year Award’.

I take both The Times and The Daily Mail.
I have read Harry’s speech and it seems wholly praiseworthy.
However, over the shoulder of DH, I see that Harry has still come under criticism by The Daily Mail for something or other that I can’t yet grasp…

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 04-Sept-21 10:16:00

Do we really believe that any of the RF write their own speeches? Of course they don’t.

theworriedwell Sat 04-Sept-21 10:17:27

Lucca

*and one good speech from Harry after all the trashing of his own family, the lies that have been told and the unsubstantiated claims is nothing by comparison*. I never said it was. I said it was a good/useful speech. You seem to agree. So that’s fine .

We didn’t need all the rehashing of his and Meghan’s past sins commission and omission.

I think the problem with telling lies is that if you are found out people will question other things that you say. So if H&M clearly say things that aren't true, lets say the getting married 3 days before the big wedding, then people might then wonder when they say other things. Somethings are subjective and as the Queen said, memories can vary, other things can objectively be said to be wrong.

So for me I don't blame them for moving if it was better for them, I absolutely understand why a new mother would want the familiarity of her own country and her mother nearby. I've got no issues with her being divorced, I'm divorced so why would I. I have no issue with her being mixed race, my kids are. Just don't expect me to believe everything they say and I think that is more on them than it is on me.

Anyone can read a pre prepared speech. Actions speak louder than words, and his actions are pretty lamentable. It's a pity he and his wife seem unable to lead by example, but I guess that they are too iimport, grand and wealthy to do that. 'Don't do as I do, do as I say', seems to be their motto.

I have just had to look up RTFT.
Charming.

Alegrias1 Sat 04-Sept-21 10:32:46

"Read The Full Thread" ???

Alegrias1 Sat 04-Sept-21 10:37:09

I can see it now....

Yes, OK, fair enough, he may have found the cure for cancer, but he didn't actually put the chemicals in the test tube and anyway I think he and his wife were once rude to the Queen. So he's beyond redemption, really.

Isn't one of the presenters of Fox News a friend of Meghan's, who was constantly revealing juicy bits of information about their situation with H's family, or was that on another morning tv show?

What on earth has that got to do with this ???

Alegrias1 Sat 04-Sept-21 10:58:17

This is how it works Lucca.

Harry praised the vaccine developers.

Harry criticised anti-vaxxers.

Harry is married to Meghan.

Meghan once met one of the presenters on Fox News.

One of the presenters on Fox News has shared info about M&H.

Fox News may have carried some anti-vax info (allegedly)

Hypocrites! How can they live with themselves! Will no-one think of the children? Our poor Queen!

Well I'm waiting with bated breath for that announcement and I think commendable would be most appropriate if he had done something so amazing.

I didn’t know what RTFT meant, thanks eazybee I looked it up.

It’s a pity GransNet has sunk this low, but suppose it can be
expected

Read the Full Thread ??

She repeated herself, in a puzzled manner

But I do know what you are talking about. Bandwagon, anyone?

JaneJudge Sat 04-Sept-21 11:15:22

Professor Green could do a read the whole thread rap

Alegrias1 Sat 04-Sept-21 11:17:50

Now I'd pay good money for that grin

She did a great job of hiding the tattoos at the awards.

FannyCornforth Sat 04-Sept-21 11:27:39

It was I who used the term RTFT
The F stands for Full.
If I wanted to write the other word, I would have done so.

Is everyone okay now? smile

FannyCornforth Sat 04-Sept-21 11:30:38

In the context of my sentence, the word f*cking would not make sense, whereas the word f*ll did.
I’m not going to us disparaging terms about my own thread, now am I? smile

Smileless2012 Sat 04-Sept-21 11:36:13

It has everything to do with this Lucca. Ladyleftfieldlover posted about H's speech broaching the subject of the media propagating miss information about the covid vaccine, and H&M use the media to propagate miss information about the RF.

It was my understanding that the Fox News presenter was a friend of Meghan's Alegrias, so much so that she knew that 'phone calls between H, his father and his brother before H came back for the D of E's funeral hadn't gone well.

Not something you would share with someone you've only met once.

Annie I have not ‘sunk this low’ sad

Alegrias1 Sat 04-Sept-21 11:40:58

OK then, I'll update my post.

Harry praised the vaccine developers.

Harry criticised anti-vaxxers.

Harry is married to Meghan.

Meghan is friends with one of the presenters on Fox News.

One of the presenters on Fox News has shared info about M&H.

Fox News may have carried some anti-vax info (allegedly)

Someone mentioned before - allegedly saying things about your granny and her family that some people disagree with, is hardly in the same league as spreading misinformation about health interventions that could cost the lives of millions.

Definitely need some perspective here.

What am I saying? Its an M&H topic....

eazybee Sat 04-Sept-21 11:42:53

Why not write: "having read the full thread. "?
Saves any confusion.

When I searched for the meaning, not knowing what the initials stood for, the unpleasant version appeared.

FannyCornforth Sat 04-Sept-21 11:46:58

eazybe because I didn’t, okay?
Why does anybody use any abbreviations? confused

JaneJudge Sat 04-Sept-21 11:51:14

I have never known RTFT to mean fucking, maybe I am naive

Smileless2012 Sat 04-Sept-21 12:04:31

You're not the only one JaneJudge I didn't know that either.

Chewbacca Sat 04-Sept-21 12:25:55

RTFT means read the fucking thread? Well! I never knew that! I always thought it was read the full thread. I suppose it all depends on how your mind works though..... I've learnt such a lot on GN lately

Anniebach Sat 04-Sept-21 12:27:46

I didn’t know what RTFT meant until I googled it,

JaneJudge Sat 04-Sept-21 12:29:54

Maybe Gransnet need to update their acronym list so there is no confusion. I can't imagine any of us are posting RTFT meaning the swear word version.
