Does anyone here believe, as I do, that Johnson is finished (and I am sure HE does know himself)

All the signs are there, no?

I can not understand how someone who was such a good journalist, erudite, intelligent and with such a good grasp of the subject he was reporting on turn into a bumbling idiot.
He is not helped by the members of the cabinet who appear to have a poor grasp of their responsibilities and a total lack of the knowledge required to fulfil them.
The present government incompetence with regards to net zero, the ending of lockdown, getting civil servants back to work, immigration and so on and so on, is the result of MPs who have never worked in the real world. Public school, Oxford and PPE degree should not guarantee a position in government. This applies to all political parties, Labour and Liberals are just as bad in this respect.

Net Zero in particular has been announced and a vote passed in Parliament by people living in cloud cuckoo land. What is worse is that the opposition parties are also living there.
We need people who understand technology and science in the government to bring some sanity to these proposals.

It’s up to you what you believe PippaZ, of course.

Or 29th Sept ?but 2020 and September.

Was it under ‘News and Politics’ lemongrove?

TopsyIrene06 Mon 27-Sept-21 18:00:44

I think he is attending his mothers funeral today. I thought I heard Rachel Johnson say so on the radio last night.

lemongrove Mon 27-Sept-21 17:53:51

If anyone can be bothered to google am sure there are other threads on the same subject....

lemongrove Mon 27-Sept-21 17:40:35

I remember saying that if he did go ( not that I believed it for a minute, PM’s don’t go easily!) then I hoped Jeremy Hunt would take over.

So much wishful thinking on these pages!?
He’s not going anywhere soon.Remember the confident predictions that he would be out by last Christmas? I do.

Yes lemongrove I do remember several on here predicting that Boris would be gone by Christmas, or certainly in the New Year, I posted something similar earlier.

But PippaZ I cannot recall which thread it was on, so won’t be doing links to it. The fact you cannot remember doesn’t mean we made it up.

We didn’t.

But when you are virtually accusing people just to make it sound good from your point of view, I really don't have to believe it - and I don't - without proof.

The thread was entitled ‘Boris’ on Tue 28th Sept.

You wish. Again be careful you don’t get what you wish for but it’s not going to happen any day soon.

There was a thread exactly a year ago, predicting that Johnson would be gone by ( last) Christmas....ho ho ho!??

MaizieD Mon 27-Sept-21 17:31:34

I don't think he'll stand much of a chance if he can't get Christmas done...

CoolCoco Mon 27-Sept-21 17:00:00

I also remember many Brexit fans predicting that the EU would collapse as they would all follow the UK vote.

winterwhite Mon 27-Sept-21 16:31:36

The 'signs', if any, will surely come at the tory party conference this w/e. Nothing to do with the Labour Party. If the tory party has enough parliamentarians of integrity this should become apparent. If it has not then things are even worse than I feared.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 27-Sept-21 15:29:40

JenniferEccles I also hope he is being able to grieve for his mother. For anyone whoever they may be losing a parent is devastating.

Somebody asked where the PM is at the moment.

Well I hope he is taking a little bit of time to properly grieve for his mother who died last week if you remember.

He was very close to her and protective too as his father by all accounts, didn’t treat her well at all.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 27-Sept-21 15:22:05

lemongrove and Urmstongran the hopeful predictions of when Mr.Johnson will be leaving office have been constant since the day the Conservatives were elected with an eighty seat majority.

Those supporters of Labour, Lib Dem’s etc must be extremely frustrated that there appears to be no credible /electable opposition.

Mamie Mon 27-Sept-21 15:16:18

You didn’t make this up lemongrove! I’m another one who remembers the fervent wishful thinking on here about Boris’ perceived lack of months in No. 10.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 27-Sept-21 15:04:41

If he Mr.Johnson gets fuel in the filling stations, food on shelves and Turkeys on the menus for Christmas Day I would be surprised if he is going to be usurped anytime soon.

.... to do one's prep

Mamie Mon 27-Sept-21 14:58:55

Riverwalk He is probably preparing meaningless platitudes, half-baked ideas and not very witty epigrams in Latin and Greek for his speech to the party faithful at conference.
Though come to think of it a week in advance is jolly early to one's prep.

Riverwalk Mon 27-Sept-21 14:48:38

Where is Johnson by the way - lying low?

Namsnanny Mon 27-Sept-21 12:43:44

The TBIfGC is held in high esteem
As with everything it depends who you ask.
But I'm not sure if my head is in or out by your standardsgrin
