The PM has said "big, bold decisions" are needed" and it would be interesting to hear what Conservative voters are hoping for.

It’s part of my charm PippaZ.

MaizieD Wed 06-Oct-21 22:23:40

I don't actually recall Ug being here on Gnet at the time of the referendum. Perhaps that's why I missed all her warnings of 'bumpy roads'? hmm

(Lots of others, now gone, though)

Kali2 Wed 06-Oct-21 22:23:00

The Russians are rubbing their hands in glee ...

I wonder if this is what Urmstongran is dreaming of?

JaneJudge Wed 06-Oct-21 22:13:08

I've decided to go and get a new patio calor gas tomorrow and fishing rod

Scones

Well I think you lost me in all the red mist there Urmstongran. Enjoy your fish and candles though.

And me. Just come back from a nice evening out to discover that urmstongran has decided that power cuts and fish for xmas dinner are an acceptable price for me to pay to justify her Brexit vote. Erm......no.

PippaZ Wed 06-Oct-21 22:09:29

Urmstongran

And as for (some) large companies whingeing? It's the job of business to maintain a risk register and develop comprehensive contingency plans, surely? Government is not accountable for their failure to do so.

Isn't it interesting that so many, large and small companies, the majority of the population, our allies, are all out of step but you and the comparatively few with your extreme views Urmstongran?

Urmstongran Wed 06-Oct-21 22:07:48

Yet, no one picked up on the inadequacy of the French small boats record keeping which I think is more bizarre.

But perhaps not.

Urmstongran Wed 06-Oct-21 22:06:06

?

Galaxy Wed 06-Oct-21 22:05:35

It could be a pile on or you could have said something quite bizarre and people are responding to it.

Urmstongran Wed 06-Oct-21 22:04:48

Now then JaneJudge this isn’t the plaice for that kind of talk.

Urmstongran Wed 06-Oct-21 22:03:51

Yes, many times Kali2!
?

JaneJudge Wed 06-Oct-21 22:03:44

It is sole destroying

Kali2 Wed 06-Oct-21 22:01:53

What a brillieant way to discuss and debate.

Have I ever told you - I despair.

Urmstongran Wed 06-Oct-21 21:47:50

Ooh look at the pile on! Illustrates the anti-Brexit feeling here on GN in a nutshell.

Cooked fish by BBQ anyone? It’s delicious.
But we all know it won’t be necessary.
Just the silly French Minister sabre rattling!

JaneJudge Wed 06-Oct-21 21:47:03

Deedaa

Fish on Christmas Eve in Italy JaneJudge but that might be a bit too European for some people.

sounds fine to me smile

Urmstongran Wed 06-Oct-21 21:45:09

Okay Alegrias ha-ha!

Yes, stupid predictive text turned kow-tow into know-tow! But ‘whatever’ instrumentation the small French boats were fiddling with to hide their nefarious fishing catches it doesn’t alter the fact that they’ve been caught out! The ones refused a licence by the Jersey authorities are unable to produce the evidence they need to show they’ve been fishing in those waters previously.

Casdon Wed 06-Oct-21 21:42:58

What’s worrying me is how Urmstongran is planning to cook her fish without any power - maybe the candle will do the job?

Galaxy Wed 06-Oct-21 21:38:55

I am really confused. Is eating fish patriotic now. It's hard to keep up.

JaneJudge Wed 06-Oct-21 21:36:44

I though fish was a Good Friday thing?

Scones Wed 06-Oct-21 21:34:10

Alegrias1 Wed 06-Oct-21 21:28:02

I think you're getting confused Urmstongran. The tacho-wotsits are what the HGV drivers use. Whole different disaster instigated by the government, but understandable that they are starting to merge in your mind. VMR is what the fishing boats use.

I guess this isn't the first time that a Brexit voter has completely misunderstood a situation and decided to tell others all about it.

You can say know-tow, of course you can, if you like, because it doesn't mean anything smile

(Europeans Hate Us part 2 - please see above)

Kali2 Wed 06-Oct-21 21:26:25

''Or trigger Article 16.
I think we just might by Christmas.''

and what do you think the consequences of that will be? Goodwill all round and Peace on Earth. Sure!

Urmstongran Wed 06-Oct-21 21:16:30

Urmstongran Wed 06-Oct-21 21:13:24

Yes Scones in the short term, if needs be, rather than know-tow (are we even allowed to say that these days?) to the French. I won’t starve.

Moaning & posturing about fishing (legitimately... erm no) in our British waters! Jog on Macron.
