The PM has said "big, bold decisions" are needed" and it would be interesting to hear what Conservative voters are hoping for.

Raymond Blanc is such a hateful man

for example grin

You know what, I'm in a spectacularly good mood after watching John and Johannes on Strictly.

So I'm just going to ask Lincslass how many French people do you know? How long have you spent in France? Have you ever lived there there? Have you ever worked for any French companies?

And finally, what makes you so bitter?

What a ridiculous, insulting and frankly, laughable comment.

Kali2 Sat 09-Oct-21 21:32:34

My goodness Lincslass- where on earth ...

paranoïa is not a good look and is not going to help us get out of this mess- for sure!

Scones Sat 09-Oct-21 21:20:05

I don't know why you'd say that Lincslass. I have family in France and have spent much time there over many decades and have always been made completely welcome by the French people I've met.

What do you mean by lining their pockets?

Lincslass Sat 09-Oct-21 20:50:39

I was just thinking when the UK starts getting to be the envy of the world will all the remainers stop moaning. I for one am glad that we are out of the EU. You can stick what the rest of Europe thinks of us especially France.

There's an in-depth, thoughtful message for our poor, benighted country.

I'm sure the French love you too.

Aah but we know the French definitely don’t love us. Never have, unless of course we are lining their pockets.

your political affiliation or none is irrelevant here- whether you are pro or anti Brexit, pro or anti Johnson

water companies should NOT be allowed to let raw sewage get into the water system- especially at the time when chemicals for water treatment are becoming in short supply.

Kali2 Sat 09-Oct-21 19:47:32

Please sign the petition- next time could be much more serious

Kali2 Sat 09-Oct-21 19:45:36

Good news- are you denying that

a) raw sewage has been illegally dumped by private water companies all along the SE coast?

b) and that their stored chemicals are about to run out.

so far... pheew, so good.

Devon might have been an 'accident' due to storms. NOT the case in the SE, where companies have been pouring raw sewage from many outlets around the Kent/Sussex/Surrey coast recently.

Please sign the petition, it has to STOP

The early evening news has just reported that the cautionary advice to boil water has been lifted as further tests showed it to be safe.

Lady who doesn't care what other countries think spends fulfilling days dreaming of when other countries envy the UK.

When do you think the 'envy of the world' time will come Rosycheeks?

What is the detailed plan to get us from our current position of 'laughing stock of the world' to 'envy of the world'?

Public service announcement:

Deadly E.coli bacteria has been found in water treatment works supplying 443 post code areas.
Boil your water before drinking folks.
Nothing to do with shortage of water treatment chemicals post Brexit and dumping raw sewage into waterways - I suppose !?!

It is everything to do with that!

ew and yuk ... see my use of letters!
My son is an avid surfer, paddler. We had this problem at the beginning of the week in Devon. You can go on a App to check. It only lasted 24 hours due to storm.

Kali2 Sat 09-Oct-21 14:32:47

The South East is where private water companies have been pouring raw sewage into the sea, btw.

Please please the Petition about raw sewage, please.

Kali2 Sat 09-Oct-21 14:31:41

Oh I know- in the meantime, back to Conference.

Yes, he swears a lot, and it does offend some people. But I will share (with a warning) because he is, spot on, as usual- Jonathan Pie's take

Alegrias1 Sat 09-Oct-21 14:29:18

Obviously its an issue for Kent and Surrey Kali2.

But look what happened the last time there was a supply issue with certain liquids in the South East...

Kali2 Sat 09-Oct-21 14:21:22

Ah that's OK then, only where my grandchildren live- as long as ... hey!

Is that where Jeremy lived ?

JaneJudge Sat 09-Oct-21 14:00:59

I'd never heard of Thorpe Bay until I joined Gransnet

Alegrias1 Sat 09-Oct-21 13:52:42

Refers to Kent and Surrey.

No panicking in Edinburgh or Cardiff, please. Or even Thorpe Bay.

Our decision to vote Remain had nothing to do with money- zilch, zero, rien, niente, nada, nichts!

But if the Pound tanks, as is predicted by all financial experts- we will be in deep doo doo. But we will be OK, we always will- unlike 1000s and 1000s of families who will truly suffer, the children too.

As said, before, mine will always had the choice to opt out, any time. Most won't- Brexit has made sure of that!

Alegrias1 Sat 09-Oct-21 12:45:07

Urmstongran

I suppose Kali2 that the scores of prominent experts saying Scotland ought to remain as part of the UK won’t be listened to either by those wishing independence?

Sometimes it comes down to feelings. Not just money it seems. Even though a decision impacts on all the citizens, some people will feel annoyed & say ‘we told you so’ if the vote doesn’t go their way. Which is totally understandable.

Scotland will be another litmus test won’t it Alegrias?

I listen to them, and make assessments of their vested interests and biases, same as I do with the people saying Scotland can do fine on its own.

You're right Urmstongran, sometimes it doesn't come down to money. I wish more Tories understood that. I was disappointed in 2014, but never alleged dirty tricks or lack of critical thought on the part of the people who voted differently to me, because I can see their viewpoint. Leavers now, a different story. No excuse at all apart from not really understanding how the world works. Or not caring, because they are only interested in what makes them rich.

There's extremism on both sides. Have a look at the National's front page now and again if you want a good laugh. wink

Oh sorry I was going to answer your comment, but really think that silly behaviour on other threads is best ignored.

Probably right - they won't succeed this time.

Be assured it isn’t about you so you are being left alone this time?
