The PM has said "big, bold decisions" are needed" and it would be interesting to hear what Conservative voters are hoping for.

Urmstongran '' Even though a decision impacts on all the citizens, some people will feel annoyed & say ‘we told you so’ if the vote doesn’t go their way. Which is totally understandable.''

of course. The problem here is the opposite in fact - many of us can see that 'project fear' has turned out exactly as we expected. And sadly that does not go 'the way of anyone' - we are all losers here, however we voted in the Referendum. And especially young people, who made the massive mistake not to vote, and all those youngsters who are now able to vote and were not at the time. It is their future which is catastrophically being screwed up.

At least my children and grand-children have the opt-out button at anytime. Most do not.

Oh sorry I was going to answer your comment, but really think that silly behaviour on other threads is best ignored.

Oh I see- probably right. Is there a particular thread I should be aware of? Probably going around in pms?

Thinking about the law and the EU (as you do in the shower) I think in fact that the U.K. businesses have much less rights than they did before brexit.

During our membership of the EU British business regularly took governments to the ECJ claiming unfair business practice. Sometimes they won sometimes not.

Now they have no recourse to law over the way this government is behaving. So the extremely unfair practice of allowing EU business to import without hinderance whilst U.K. businesses have the full panoply of eu law to comply with cannot be challenged in U.K. courts.

Oh Kali2 have you got nothing better to do then write all the time on these posts. I myself have a fullfilling life.

Oh I have, oh I do ... don't worry about me.

Where on earth did you find the time, and the ... (can't find the right word here) to write this sad and unpleasant post, I wonder.

Agent provocateur, perhaps?

Now she can go back to another thread and verify how nasty the left wing clique on the Politics threads are hmm

What fun Gnet is this morning...

X posts Alegrias!
Come back after lunch perhaps?
?

It's ok rosycheeks is just on a quick break from their £30 an hour broccoli picking.

Urmstongran Sat 09-Oct-21 11:56:18

I suppose Kali2 that the scores of prominent experts saying Scotland ought to remain as part of the UK won’t be listened to either by those wishing independence?

Sometimes it comes down to feelings. Not just money it seems. Even though a decision impacts on all the citizens, some people will feel annoyed & say ‘we told you so’ if the vote doesn’t go their way. Which is totally understandable.

Scotland will be another litmus test won’t it Alegrias?

I've just been defending the politics threads as the bastion of good debate.

Then we get this.

Time for lunch, I think

I hope so too Kali2. I voted in good faith (as did everyone) according to my conscience. I researched, read a lot of articles from various sources and experts in their fields. I wasn’t influenced by Facebook (I have never joined).

Even the experts disagree! Even now. Time will tell I suppose.

I'm sure you did - and of course the information given was pure lies or based on lies.

Time will tell - yes, I think it has started in earnest, time is telling, right now.

But you can't deny that warnings were given, again and again, by the best experts in the field - and just dismissed as 'project fear'. Even Prof Dougan of Liverpool Uni with this decades of experience and massive knowledge of international Law and business.

I was just thinking when the UK starts getting to be the envy of the world will all the remainers stop moaning. I for one am glad that we are out of the EU. You can stick what the rest of Europe thinks of us especially France.

Ah yes, thanks. Yes THAT will solve all our problems!

(like Raab, geography is not your forte, perhaps)

Alegrias1 Sat 09-Oct-21 11:11:58

Do you really think that every business in the EU had/has a level playing field ?

Whereas now we're in the drainage ditch at the bottom of the field, trying not to sink.

I suppose that what is giving you the jitters is “law having primacy” but I would have thought you running a business would understand that more than most. It gives every business in the EU the security of a level playing field.

That has been stripped away now and our businesses are really struggling.

Do you really think that every business in the EU had/has a level playing field ?

In law - yes. If they don’t think that they do they have recourse to the ECJ, and do so at a very regular rate.

Yes, yes if that happens, I will stop moaning telling the truth.

If that happens, will we be getting free tickets to watch the show of flying pigs, or will they all have been culled by then?

Do you not like the French then? You'll be eating their pork soon.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 09-Oct-21 11:05:41

And you must know that phrase only relates to business law surely!!

It has never had jurisdiction over domestic law ever ever ever.

Just reminding some folks one of the reasons people voted leave.

Oh, I see.

So how does a big economic block composed of 27 countries function without rules etc

EU law has primacy over national law some folks were not happy about this, me included.

What, that the EU laws prevent politicians having influence over judicial appointments? Something that they signed up for when they joined the EU? Seems pretty sensible to me.
