Granny23 thousands of British people have travelled abroad for a holiday this Summer.
How did you vote and why today
Boris Johnson’s spokesman repeatedly refused on Monday to confirm who has paid for Boris Johnson’s holiday to Marbella and won't say whether the Prime Minister has paid for his own holiday or who else has funded it.
Pushed on the question, Downing Street would only say that the prime minister would disclose any donations he has received, if required to do so, at a later date.
The caginess from Johnson’s spokesman follows reports that the prime minister is currently staying at a villa owned by the Conservative peer Zac Goldsmith.
Goldsmith, who is a close friend of both Johnson and his wife, was handed a peerage by Johnson, despite having been rejected by voters three times in just four years.''
Does anyone know- how many holidays has the PM had since he became PM!

Is the objection to
1) who paid for/offered the holiday
2) the timing of said holiday
3) how many holidays Johnson has had?
I think #3 has been addressed as need not concern anybody.
And #1 and #2 are not unique to Boris Johnson.
Have we forgotten Tony Blair’s holidays?
In August 2003 Tony Blair stayed in Sir Cliff Richard's Barbados holiday home. The singer later revealed he had offered the Caribbean villa, where Mr Blair and his family stayed for three weeks, because the prime minister looked so "gaunt and tired" as debate raged about the Iraq war.
(Timing? Crisis? Oh yes, we were being dragged into a war with Iraq weren’t we?)
The following year Mr Blair stayed at the Sardinian villa of Italian counterpart Silvio Berlusconi, reportedly leaving him hobbling after a challenge in a "friendly" football match.
I am sure we all remember how Silvio Berlusconi was one of the sleaziest characters in European politics then and since.
Another Italian villa he stayed at was in Tuscany, and owned by Labour MP and former paymaster general Geoffrey Robinson. Did Robinson owe his position to the PM at the time? I wonder.
So noses in the trough do not only apply to the Tory party.. But if it entertains anybody to obsess about BJ and passes the time - feel free
But the OP doesn’t care about anyone else.....only Johnson.
The reason....he got Brexit done. That’s all this thread is really about.?
Actually the OP is worded ‘who’s paying for it’ and that has already been answered, it’s loaned by a friend. This is so public that if it needs to be declared then it will be.
Regardless of your job we are all entitled to a holiday - tell that to all the unpaid 24/7 carers, self employed and Zero Hours workers (who have no income while they take a break).
My other thought is a what if? - the one that stops most of us even contemplating going abroad. What if there is a lock down, cancelled flights, closed borders, a massive outbreak where we are holidaying and we are stuck, unable to return home? Of course that would not apply to Boris - We would all chip in for a plane to bring him home.
@Lucca. Boris’s supporters should take heart - he obviously doesn’t collapse into bed exhausted EVERY night does he ? ?
£15000 is a lot of money- and smacks of 'let them eat cake'.
Goldsmith is not 'just a friend' - he is a very influential man to whom he has give a Peerage. And as said above, it is not the first time serious questions have been asked about gifts, whether other exotic and hugely expensive holidays, or home decoration, etc. all linked to other very powerful and rich people with a political agenda, and Russian oligarchs who seem to be funding the Tory party.
It is not 'just a holiday', it not 'just any friend' and it is not 'just any time' ...
Staycation obviously not grand enough

* The PM’s wife is expecting their second child in a couple of months so this is probably their last opportunity to fly abroad for a well deserved holiday.*
FFS !!!
Is it well deserved for getting pregnant ? ?
Especially when you have just been given a Peerage.

Yes, I was 'somewhat surprised' at this.
Of course, we all went on holiday just before our second children were born. It's what you do, isn't it?
They have their first child with them, presumably? Or has little Wilfred been left at home so as not to interfere with their holiday?
That is one of the saddest excuses for our idle PM I've heard in a long while...

it costs 25k a week, I think it is fair to ask who is paying for it hen there are multiple posts resenting paying for social care for vulnerable people!
But if it belongs to "a friend" who has loaned it no-one is paying, the friend has lost £25,000, if that is the cost. It might have stayed empty anyway if no-one had booked it this week.
As someone in another group pointed out Marbella is where all the crooks hide out so at least he's chosen the right place.
Yes, we've stayed there a few times!surely gifting could be manipulation or even bribery ???or even <gasp> laundering
most other people in professions are subjected to ethical frameworks and admissions.
Especially when you have just been given a Peerage.
Those saying he will declare it must have very short memories.
this was only March
I was actually thinking of his flat but ^ is worse
Callistemon
^But what has he actually achieved during his PM’ship?^
I nothing, then it won't matter if he goes on holiday for a week.
To an EU country.
Same old, same old-criticising the PM-and I can and do for many things, is the name of the game. At least him going on holiday has given a new aspect to criticise.
Callistemon I love your post. If. . .
Incidentally, I didn’t know voting remain or leave meant we should despise European countries and shouldn’t visit them anymore.
Perhaps I’d better cancel my imminent break.

What baffles me is if the PM is so ineffective why aren’t supporters of the opposition, which seem to be the majority on this site, posting every second about how brilliant people like Starmer, Davy et al are performing. Surely as the PM is so ineffective, it’s a golden opportunity to ‘sing their praises’ and recount all the amazing things that they do and yet they are barely mentioned. So why isn’t this happening?
I don’t see the connection ? Starmer is not in power.
Before someone says how do I know he is still working, well how do you know he is not.
Working from home or working when on holiday with Zoom and all the latest technology I can't see that there is a problem.

It's because it doesn't work like that. The PM is responsible for the whole country, they are not. Our problem is that our current PM has no idea what the word 'responsible' means.
As citizens whose wellbeing he is supposed to be nurturing (and we pay his wages!) we are free to criticise as much as we like if we don't think he's doing the job we pay him for.

Typo - he is totally ....
Gwyneth 'clearly there is an almost unnatural obsession with the man'
I agree - there is definitely an obsession with people still supporting him, when he has proved time and time again that he his totally unsuitable to be PM, is wholly incompetent and, in my book, worst of all, a proven liar. Those rose-tinted glasses must be worn out!
He should be patriotic and holiday in the U.K. and not a despised EU country. Funny the friend he borrowed the villa from was given a seat in the H of L by… Johnson. Yes of course he should go on holiday and stay there - no one will notice. He’ll fit right in on the Costa with all those overweight Brits, not called Costa del Crime for nothing.

Let's face it, Boris will get torn to shreds by some of the people on here whatever he does. Any excuse to have a go.
Not if he were an effective leader, which he isn't.
But what does he actually DO?
