So all the World leaders are meeting in Rome this weekend ahead of meeting in Glasgow next week for the COP meeting and they have the audacity to lecture us on climate change, it isn't only the leaders it is all the press & security from every country . I bet large news corporation like Sky and BBC all have a multitude of people out there and different ones in Glasgow. They make us feel guilty for taking one holiday a year yet they fly around the world going from one pointless meeting to the next.

That photo of Johnson is embarrassing. Almost the only person in view not wearing a mask, falling asleep and sitting right next to 95-year-old National Treasure Sir David Attenborough who manages to both wear a mask and stay awake. I knew he would embarrass himself and the country at this event, but right on day 1!

I am no great fan of Johnson, but it looks like they took turns not wearing a mask.

^"Flying over the city of Glasgow at the moment is a Vulcanair P.68R, been doing laps since 16:00.

Guess they will be flying all night in shifts, at 3500ft they might well keep some people awake."

Oh wow. I've just found this.

I keep hearing planes leaving and arriving at Turnhouse late at night. Don't know whether they are private jets or chartered ones. I have no intention of geting out of bed to find out.

maddyone Tue 02-Nov-21 09:58:00

Biden’s many, many cars tell us all we need to know about the USA’s attitude towards change. Plus I believe that lots of private jets were used to fly to Glasgow. I’ve no idea how many but I heard it on Sky News this morning. Maybe somebody can provide the figure.

maddyone Tue 02-Nov-21 09:54:59

We can but hope for realistic outcomes, but I’m not holding my breath.

Ooops! I meant multinational.

I haven't woken up yet - that's my excuse anyway.

There was agreement that multicultural companies should pay a minimum of 15% tax, which seems to be a step in the right direction.

? Multicultural companies?

I don't think anyone can predict the outcomes of either of these meetings. The official aim for G20 included all kinds of areas, manufacturing and GNP seemed to be among them, with climate not at the forefront. If there is a clash of priorities, I suspect climate will go to the back of the queue.

The climate summit itself will have as much success as those pushing hard for Global change can manage to get established - and monitored for years, too. Let's hope they don't run out of energy, enthusiasm and above all, TIME.

growstuff Tue 02-Nov-21 07:25:27

Why doesn't that response surprise me? hmm

Urmstongran Tue 02-Nov-21 07:09:25

Nope. Do you? You could enlighten us.

growstuff Tue 02-Nov-21 06:06:27

Does anybody have any comments on the outcomes of G20?

maddyone Mon 01-Nov-21 23:10:39

I've just searched and found this! Priceless with his private planes and 80+ cars.
Perhaps it was hot in the room.

He’s too old for the job really.

maddyone Mon 01-Nov-21 23:09:42

Italy was the host country this time. Rome to be exact.

Luckygirl Mon 01-Nov-21 22:26:08

Poor old chap - he must be knackered.

Kali2 Mon 01-Nov-21 19:10:47

Well Biden is a lot older, and has been travelling all ovr the place ... and he is not the host either. At least he is wearing a mask!
