Oh, look. Guess who took a private jet flight from COP26 to London (and back) to attend a private dinner.

Title says it all really.

Johnson's Green conversion didn't last long 400 miles for dinner with an old mate...

Joe Biden has FOUR planes with him, Airforce 1, a decoy Airforce 1 (folks not told which one he is on) along with two transport planes for his helicopter and various armoured cars.

Sorry COP26 is the elite rich telling the poor they need to pay more taxes and make sacrifices in their everyday lives…

Hypocrites one and all

Biden also has 20 gas guzzling cars with him as well. Boris flying up and down the country meeting a climate denier! You couldn't make it up!

Caleo Thu 04-Nov-21 12:29:57

I have a bad habit of hoping Boris will be nice after all. He has a nice dog and his wife wears pretty dresses. On the other hand, he uses a jet plane to get to a jolly in a London Club

I agree with you Elegran.

The basis of science is sceptisism. That's why scientists talk about "theories". Darwin's Theory of Evolution is just that - a theory, but it's one which has stood the test of time.

silverlining48 Thu 04-Nov-21 12:30:20

Given it’s not thousands of miles but only a Train ride from Scotland and the fact that it was taking place here I would have thought that our PM would have shown by example that using a plane of whatever sort was making a sham of the whole ethos of the conference.
It beggars belief!

Such extravagance? Two AF1? identical ?who would know which was which when ever they took off.?

Indeed, good for the Duchess of Cambridge. However, I agree with nanna8.

Agreed.

I watched a program last night on climate change on the
Smithsonian channel. This program was obviously made pre 2013 ( the Shard wasn’t in the pictures)
Plans were being drawn up then for dams across The Straights of Gibraltar to save the Mediterranean countries and the bay region ( Golden Gate Bridge)
Norfolk and Suffolk will disappear completely.
Some really impressive plans were shown for floating cities.

Daisend1 Thu 04-Nov-21 12:45:22

slverlining 48.
Yes the royal train and same transport William and Kate used but a few weeks ago on a visit to Scotland.

I have just seen a photo of that evil spreader not wearing a mask while sitting next to 95 year old David Attenborough.

Or this one with the PM wearing a mask and David Attenborough not?

Just for balance…

Did you see the CNN interview with him, asking about why he failed to wear a mask whilst sitting next to Attenborough?

Oh, do come and do some 'balance' on the Paterson thread, GG13. It seems strangely lacking...

Whitewavemark2 did you read the entire article? Here’s a section

^The Prime Minister travelled on one of the most carbon efficient planes of its size in the world, using the most sustainable aviation fuel possible. The U.K. will be offsetting all carbon emissions associated with running COP26 including travel^

I'm afraid that that doesn't excuse the man who was claiming he was going to be world leader in climate change action...

The fact that other leaders were adding vast amounts of carbon to the mix with their planes and cars doesn't make it any more excusable, either.

So the fact he’s doing something doesn’t count. Oh for goodness sakes.

Baggs Thu 04-Nov-21 13:17:50

I tend to think David Attenborough would have asked Johnson to wear a face-covering if he felt it was necessary for his (Attemborough's) protection.

25Avalon Thu 04-Nov-21 13:18:16

Another example that Johnson is not a true believer. They scare us silly so we will accept the measures they introduce which won’t really affect them. A tax on meat and dairy will affect the poor - the rich will still be able to afford it, and what about farmers? Aren’t they going to get compensation or will we just take our meat from Australia and NZ with our new trade deals? The poor can’t afford electric cars or have special planes. It’s the poor and the elderly who won’t be able to pay for heat pumps and if they can who will be cold as they don’t heat properly. It’s the poor who will suffer from increased electricity costs. We are being conned into being the ones taking the most action with government regulations directed against us, and more of our democratic rights eroded. Why should I be blamed for buying a plastic bottle? Why not stop the manufacture of them? Even in these times the elite are still in control.

Baggs Thu 04-Nov-21 13:21:02

On the other aspect of BJ's behaviour (the flying), it is elites behaving like this that make me feel we are not in half as much danger from global warming as they would like us to think.

growstuff Thu 04-Nov-21 13:23:39

I get what you're saying Avalon.

What!

Are you saying that they know something that we don't know?

Is it all part of a global plot to subjugate the populace? hmm

I'm saying I don't think they're as afraid as they want the rest of us to be while government gets more and more authoritarian, which is kind of odd in people like BJ. He has very young kids about whose future I don't believe he doesn't care.

growstuff Thu 04-Nov-21 13:42:04

But Baggs, surely Avalon is correct when she says that it will affect most those who have least. If only a handful of people have the resources to fly and eat meat, etc. the situation resolves itself. Until the last few decades, most people couldn't afford to have cars, fly or eat beef. It's because people have generally become richer that there's an issue. Not only that, but the natives in places like China and India have become industrialised too. We're going to end up returning to nineteenth century life. I don't suppose the wealthy did bother too much about what they were consuming. They didn't have to bother until the plebs started wanting a share of the spoils. That doesn't mean that there isn't a global problem.

growstuff Thu 04-Nov-21 13:43:20

Johnson probably does bother about his children's future, but they'll belong to the class who can afford to pay for scarce resources.

25Avalon Thu 04-Nov-21 13:50:26

He doesn’t seem to have been bothered too much about his children in the past. Even denied one was his!
