Of course he shouldn't. But that doesn't mean he won't be in due course i.e when it can be hoped that people will have forgotten about it. On the other enter he may not want to re-enter the cruel world of politics. ?

Is this a dead cat, or is there a serious prospect of Paterson being elevated to the Lords?

If true, would it be a last straw or just shrugged off?

Also note that No10 didn't answer the question about tory MPs being threatened with withdrawal of cash from their constituencies if they voted against the government.. That usually indicates that the answer is affirmative... wink
