It's horrific! No newspaper has the right to be judge and jury, however much their conclusions might be correct. The place for judgements like this is a court of law, not the front page of a newspaper. All this does is encourage a lynch mob mentality.

Do the people who read it 'for balance' approve of front pages like this?

Which country do you live in Hetty that thinks all UK newspapers are ‘a joke’ ? Or is that merely your own take on it?
There are so many good journalists in the UK, and excellent columnists and editorials.
Some newspapers were/are very good at exposing all kinds of murky things that need to see the light, and certainly the Express and Daily Mail were very good in that respect.

Sorry, most people don't 'do' complicated. They do knee jerk reaction and front pages such as this encourage it.

The Mail was in the OP because it talked about the end of "The Brexit". So, who knew that some people would already be so ashamed about their vote in the referendum that they would do anything to avoid talking about it. In this case, stir up a shouting match against a newspaper - or several newspapers.

So let's not discuss the end of "The Brixit". Let's not discuss the beginning of dealing with all the detritus that has heaped upon us. Let's just shout like four-year-olds - including at our neighbours and trading partners in the EU - because, let's face it, the shouty people were the sort of people who voted to leave, weren't they.

I didn’t approve MaizieD and would have been delighted to see those accused in that headline protest their innocence and take the newspaper to court and get reparations for the damage to their reputations...

I found a helpful page with links to DM headlines over the years by googling and thought it would be useful 9n this thread as everyone seemed to be arguing about the DM and its ourageous headlines!
In fact it was just an exercise and I was interested that such a page existed. ?

I wasn't giving you flak!!! I was explaining why you might know what you were talking about, after you were attacked by another poster.

I know there are various sites which catalogue/archive DM headlines. People have written theses about DM headlines, bias and the way they influence people.
