If Peppa Pig is now the symbol of global Britain, what have you got to lose Mr Farage?

He says in the Telegraph just now:

“ ...as the official number of arrivals for 2021 heads towards 25,000 (we still don’t have the Home Office figures for Tuesday 16 November) it does seem as though something is beginning to change. Reports are circulating that the Prime Minister has become fretful. As well he should. On his watch, the mantra of “taking back control” of our borders has descended into farce.

The biggest problem Boris Johnson faces is not the sheer impracticality and cost to the public purse of housing, clothing, feeding and giving free healthcare and education to huge numbers of people who have chosen to leave the safety of France to come to this country. Neither is it the daily expense of conducting the Channel operations. Instead, it is the threat to Britain’s national security and the safety of its citizens. Johnson is ultimately responsible for guarding his people. This is the sacred duty of any prime minister. It should override all others. Yet the present occupant of 10 Downing Street seems to have abandoned his post.”

In your dreams Boz.

Alegrias1 Wed 24-Nov-21 13:03:33

I agree Boz. The Tory party will get rid of him as soon as he becomes a liability. I haven't seen many on here defending his performance over the last week or so, so maybe it won't be too long.

However I think that the best outcome would be if he goes to the country in a GE and we vote him out. A girl can dream...

Boz Wed 24-Nov-21 13:00:40

I don't think Remainers are as much a threat to Johnson as his own behaviour! Most of his woes are self-inflicted
Personally, I think when he goes (and they all depart in tears - some literally) future Governments will drift back to closer ties to Europe. We will have to, to survive.

Alegrias1 Wed 24-Nov-21 12:58:57

Got any stats? Got any numbers of those who pretend to be children but aren't? Got any proof that people pretend to change their religion for nefarious purposes?

"They" don't lie. Some people lie, same as anywhere in the world.

I was reading about the terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport, the one that happened about 15 years ago. The main perpetrator was born in Aylesbury. Should I now avoid people born in Aylesbury and be suspicious of them if I meet them in Tescos?

^thousands of people coming ashore illegally^

Any time I see this I'm going to correct it.

Nobody is coming ashore illegally, there is no such concept in the law. I speak, of course, from my bubble of expert knowledge. Not from my bubble of xenophobic fear.

Okay. I concede your point.
?

However pretending to be minors, arriving without legal papers, pretending to have changed their religion etc doesn’t exactly endear them to us or further our sympathy for their applications . If they lie about the basics no wonder we question their intent when living amongst us. True, ... bad apples... but remember it only takes a lone wolf on the internet.

The ever present danger of remainers must always be considered regarding Boris’ tenure.

As the Uk is pushing the EU and threatening Article 16, it should be of no surprise that unnamed MP's, Labour and the media are looking to topple Boris Johnson.

Whilst Boris thretens to take the UK further away from the EU, the remain elite want to cling ever tighter - in the hope that one day the UK will be subsumed again into the EU

Oh dear! It's fairy tale time again.

Maudi

Yes Urmstongran the Brexit glow is now a cinder ? but he did get an 80 seat majority not many could do that. He looks over weight, tired and puffy poor Boris perhaps a young wife, little Wilf and a new baby on the way at his age is all too much for anyone.

Good heavens a pregnant wife and a young child too much ? Come off it

Alegrias1 Wed 24-Nov-21 12:31:53

The Nobel Prize Winners could probably spell Britain though...grin

Alegrias1 Wed 24-Nov-21 12:29:10

The power of global Britian.

In May the Home office launched a scheme whereby scientists and others with proven globally recognised talent could come here, bypassing the usual visa requirements and not having to provide their own funding, that kind of thing. Nobel Prize Winners, Fields medallists, etc etc. How great that will be for the future of Global Britain!

How many have applied to come?

Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Maudi Wed 24-Nov-21 10:52:36

Some good news today in The Daily Mail

France finally cracks down on migrant smuggling as 15 gang members are rounded up for charging hundreds of refugees £5,000 each to cross Channel to Britain in packed boats

Isn't she actually Miss Rabbit, not that it makes much difference other than not needing a man?

Alegrias1 Wed 24-Nov-21 10:32:13

I heard she was Banksy.

If we are now using Peppa Pig analogies, can I request that Mrs.Rabbit puts her cards in for U.K. PM?

My reasoning, she does every flipping job in Peppa world from supermarket checkout to flying the rescue helicopter. Goes with the old saying ^if you want something done give it to a busy woman^

And yet, she still has fun larking about and jumping in muddy puddles too!

Have to agree with you over the migrant crisis Maudi and the social care ruling. Boris is done. The Brexit warm glow is now in the rear view mirror and the thousands of people coming ashore illegally is front and centre in many peoples minds (except here of course in this little bubble of expert knowledge) and he doesn’t seem able or isn’t interested in sorting it .

Maudi Wed 24-Nov-21 09:40:38

Well he didn't do himself any favours with his shambolic Pepper Pig speech ? but I don't think he'll be going anywhere soon, who would take his place? He's gone down in my estimation I'm not happy about social care costs, the watered down HS2 route and his failure to sort out the migrant crisis.

Sorry, I've never been part of a fifth column before.

There are a million job vacancies in the U.K. Just saying…..

Exactly. So many businesses can’t get staff.

Here's an article from the Guardian that talks about this. I thought it was spot on.
