As a modern monarch the Queen can only advise her Government, she reigns but does not rule. I would imagine this is exactly her thoughts, although we shall never know, because they are the thoughts of at least half the population.

In the photo I saw she was wearing red and had the broach on the other side. Is this an old photo?

Yes it has been doing the rounds for several weeks.

Start with the extra how many millions in your purse this year...while most of the country is struggling to survive.Thats as good a place as any!!Such a "caring monarch" not!!Such a parasite ,

How disrespectful to a lady who has buried her husband this year.

So predictable. Obviously no Christmas spirit at all. Why post nasty snide comments just because you can.

Where is the thread about Meghan Markle?

I won't be watching the Queen's Christmas message (it isn't the Queen's Speech, that is given on the opening of Parliament) as I haven't since I left my parents' home in 1963, but I won't be sending her any hate mail either.

A happy Christmas to all and may the true spirit of Christmas prevail; peace and goodwill to all men (and women), including those we don't like very much.

eazybee Thu 23-Dec-21 12:21:49

Paddyann's comment is disrespectful to a woman of 95 who is still fulfilling to the best of her ability the commitment she made to serve seventy years ago.

You could start mam by doing what a Head of State is supposed to do defend our constitution so not letting liar Johnson get away with his lies corruption.

But queen does not want to defend our constitution. She only does what PM asks her to do.

So the funny but crude joke is on who? hmm

GrannyGravy13 Mon 20-Dec-21 16:08:36

Getting back to the OP, I found it very funny ??

Elegran Mon 20-Dec-21 15:57:01

Only two really sad people that I can see, Judy54 who can't let a seasonable joke pass them by without a spiteful dig.

Anniebach Mon 20-Dec-21 14:27:30

Thank you Whitewave for some laughter, bet the Queen
is thinking those words

Judy54 Mon 20-Dec-21 14:15:26

Oh dear some very sad people on here. Just take it for what it is. Thank you Whitewavemark2 for injecting a little fun into our day. Lighten up people and find some enjoyment in life.

SueDonim Mon 20-Dec-21 12:01:24

Talk about biting the hand that fed you, in the comments! ?

The OP is funny, though I thought the photo on the right was Prof Whitty, until I zoomed in.

Mealy mouthed and spiteful She had no choice that she was born to be Queen, but my goodness she has worked hard and steered this country with a devotion not found elsewhere. How many people do you know going strong working at 95. She’s lost her husband of 70 years. Where’s your goodwill to all gone.

Not mealy mouthed spiteful it honesty, truly felt The 'queen' is not hard working nor all the 'Royals' Everything is done for them loads of money spent lots of grand houses for what?

Dr nurses schools could benefit from the £345 million spent altogether on this one family

Where indeed, Ma’am?

FarNorth Mon 20-Dec-21 11:23:17

I'm with the Queen on this.
Good on her for putting that picture out and I look forward to hearing her give that very short speech at Xmas.

Grany Mon 20-Dec-21 11:14:33

Well the Head of State could uphold our constitution in the interests of the people, which she won't do, instead of agreeing everything PM asks pointless powerless What is she there for?

Agree with paddyann54 made me laugh ?

Elegran Mon 20-Dec-21 11:05:41

That spite was unnecessary, Paddyann, at a time of year when the slogan should be "Goodwill to all men" - and all women, of course - whatever the level of their bank balances.

I'm sure the Queen is sobbing into her cornflakes at Paddyanne's rudeness.

I'm just eating my muesli getting annoyed at the rudeness of posters who think they have a duty to monitor everyone's posts and tell a poster off if it doesn't meet their standards of behaviour. Like bossy little girls in a primary school playground.

Do you do it in real life too?

That’s ironic MaizieD as you are doing the exact same thing…

I agree, GrannyGravy13. Disrespectful and spiteful.

You are not the Gransnet behaviour monitors. We all left school a long, long time ago. Some of us only left it in body, it seems...
