Maxwell has been found guilty on five out of six counts of recruiting underage girls to be sexually abused by Jeffrey Epstein.
news.sky.com/story/ghislaine-maxwell-found-guilty-of-sex-trafficking-charges-12501445
Maxwell also faces two perjury charges, which defence lawyers successfully argued should be tried separately.
I wondered if she might get off the charges, as money and power are behind her, but justice has prevailed.
Yes, they were.
Irrc one of the girls Mums in the Rotherham case was repeatedly ignored by the authorities and weren't some of the girls in care homes?

I take it you'd be calling for the same thing for the parents of the girls in the Rotherham grooming cases too then?

I wasn't 4, that is just when it started

I hope this last post GSM is you defending the indefensible. If not ?…..
It rather proves my point, though, Granniesunite
That lawyers will attempt to defend the indefensible.

It doesnt really matter what people think about the girls, I might feel that shoplifting is ok, however the law doesn't care what I feel. As trisher has pointed out the law says they cant consent. And thank God for that law.

Absolutely, VioletSky. It's the same as questioning why a victim of domestic abuse didn't leave the relationship the first time the abuse took place.
Totally different Blondiescot. A victim of domestic abuse may be unable to leave home for a number of reasons. I can testify to that from personal experience.
I'm sorry, but I don't agree it was possible to just walk away.
They were caught up in an evil circle of powerful people, even those who knew it was wrong eg the pilot, carried on doing their bidding.
A young girl stood no chance of extricating herself from this malevolent web.How so Calistemon? Were the girls held prisoner, chained, drugged? If that had been the case we would have heard it by now. They were old enough to know that they were engaging in prostitution, old enough to know the difference between right and wrong, old enough to say No after the first time. My view is that they enjoyed the goodies which came their way, enjoyed going to seemingly exciting places and meeting famous people and therefore didn't want to put a stop to it.
That post is not only disgusting, it shows an appalling level of ignorance.

So, if they enjoyed the goodies, does that mean no crime was committed??
I have not suggested that no crime was committed. I have said that the girls themselves perpetuated the continuation of underage sex. Certain posters seem to have an image of all these girls being naive, unknowing. That is not the opinion I have formed after following the case. To conflate Epstein and Saville is ridiculous in the extreme. Saville preyed on very young girls, many of them with a much younger mental age than their years and thus unaware of what he was doing to them. The two cannot be compared.
GSM only 4 of the girls involved in this have come forward to testify so you have no idea about any capacity or lack of it of all the girls involved.
A girl of 14 cannot give permission to anyone to have sex. In the US this is called "statutory rape". No matter how mny times it happens, no matter if the girl says yes, she is legaly a minor and every time sex happens it is rape.
Anniebach
Where were the parents? They should face trial
On what charges? They weren't the abusers in this case...

I recommend the book The Secret Barrister. None of us were in the courtroom or privy to all the evidence that convicted Maxwell.

I worked for my local authority supporting families in the past and we had to be very clear regarding the law as people (professionals in some cases) make up crap about 14 year olds being some how complicit in their own rapes and abuse.
Some defence barristers JaneJudge are determined to prove their client is innocent despite the overwhelming evidence. Cold, lacking any compassion, ruthless.
They have the ability to destroy a victim's mental health too.Calistemon, this is not permissible if the lawyer believes their client to be guilty. In such a case, if their client refuses to plead guilty, they are obliged to withdraw from the case. They do not invent stories to produce an acquittal. It is quite simply not allowed despite what you might think after watching tv dramas. The etiquette which binds barristers and solicitors is very strict in such matters.

That is extremely rude germanshepherdsmum
I am astonished at your attitude but perhaps I shouldn't be as my experience is not from TV.
I didn't say they invented stories and at least the evidence is now available to the defence as well as to the prosecution.
Would it not be more corrupt if people couldn’t face trials for crimes committed or people falsely accused of crime
I think some posters on here 'doth protest too much' - what some are saying is victim shaming, no doubt about it. And that's what these girls were - victims. Stop trying to pretend otherwise.
Anyway I have much better things to get on with now the rain's stopped so please enjoy having go in my absence.
No wonder the world is so corrupt.

Oh my god...
She's just a pimp like any other of their heartless ilk. What sort of sentence do they usually get or does it not matter so much if it's just poor girls from abusive backgrounds over here?!
Children under the age of 16 can't consent. It doesn't matter whether they thought they enjoyed that abuse or not at the time
The same arguments about enjoyment are used about people without mental capacity being sexually abused
You don't have to tell me that Anniebach!
