This is the opinion of one New York Times journalist:

Nick Ferrari on LBC

^'It seems he's so bent he can't lie straight in bed': Nick Ferrari savages PM over parties''^

And Nick is very right wing.
I think that the real momentum is happening nowsmile

Not any more lemongrove.

Better angry lemongrove than being smugly responsible for this mess, and mess it is. You obviously consider me predictable, I prefer principled. You don't need to be left leaning to be disgusted by the lies, corruption and downright sneering disrespect shown by this shower. Many decent people, lifetime Tory voters, feel as I do, if you don't that is for you to deal with, my conscience is clear.

Yes, thank you.

The whole thing is becoming farcical.

Johnson is waiting for the outcome of the investigation to ascertain whether he attended the party.

As are a number of other MPs and ministers.

“Tense days ahead as Boris Johnson waits to find out if inquiry ordered by Boris Johnson finds that Boris Johnson attended a party at Boris Johnson’s house”

Whitewavemark2 Tue 11-Jan-22 18:20:32

Question

How far can we trust the enquiry into the parties as they are being investigated by someone chosen by Johnson and who will report to Johnson before anyone else sees it?

Just seen the questionning in the House today- hardly any Tory MPs there and an empty Front Bench. The poor man (whoever he is!) trying to defend the indefensible looked very lonely. I almost felt sorry for him

This is so upsetting. Whilst they were partying at No.10 the reality for others was unbearable and will stay with them forever. Not just this lady but many other people telling similar heartbreaking stories in their replies.

If he was there I think he owes it to these people to admit it.

Can I be first please? I think Johnson will "test positive" for covid19 soon and will not attend PMQs tomorrow. grin

MaizieD Tue 11-Jan-22 18:38:42

Strange how the Brexit voters are oblivious to the stated aims of the ERG faction that comprise the government majority (and so hold the whip hand) . I've run through them a couple of times in this thread alone and have mentioned them on others.

I'm a bit curious as to precisely what glory can be gained from having the most incompetent, corrupt and authoritarian UK government since universal suffrage...

Alegrias1 Tue 11-Jan-22 18:39:44

There was a DUP MP on the news just now, asking a question in parliament today, who started to cry when he told how his MIL died alone. How does Johnson sleep at night?

MaizieD Tue 11-Jan-22 18:42:40

I wonder if Johnson will have the same baying mob behind him at PMQs tomorrow as he did last week.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 11-Jan-22 18:45:58

He won’t turn up

I think you may be correct Whitewavemark2

I think his days are numbered now.

I’ve often wondered how the little boy felt when everybody else finally admitted that the emperor was stark bollock naked. Nearly there, perhaps.

I almost felt sorry for Paymaster General Michael Ellis today in the HoC. He just repeated the same answer, i.e. we mustn't speculate about the party, we have to wait for the investigation. It sounds as if our PM can't recall if he was present at this drinks party withhout an inquiry confirming or denying he was. It's all just getting too ridiculous. Also, can we take it that the 30 or so persons attending the party will be fined? I think it's Sue Gray who is conducting the inquiry, let's hope she wasn't at the party...

Bet there'll be no revelatory gratitude towards the NHS this time.

Kali2 Tue 11-Jan-22 19:22:41

I am not a betting person- but I could make an exception, just this time.

Will he

Won't he (turn up for PMQ).

Lovetopaint037 Tue 11-Jan-22 19:23:43

I go along with that article. Well said and if we let it happen then we are fools. I have just signed the Best For Britain petition in an attempt to stop the infringement of our rights to protest. Behind the rolls of gold wallpaper and wine fuelled jollies there are other things to concern us.

Saw an MP on telly this morning defending the No 10 garden gathering as being a thank you to those attending because they had been putting in 18 hour days with regularity. BYOB a treat? And........ why weren't they working from home like the rest of us? Furthermore he referred to their workplaces as 'grubby little office's in 10, 11 &12.

Maybe they should have had a larger work space as my daughter had at that time.

Niobe Tue 11-Jan-22 21:08:45

One thing puzzles me about this whole debacle. Would a Civil Servant, however senior, really take it upon himself to issue invitations to a ( illegal) gathering at No10 without permission from the PM? Especially when the country was facing a major lockdown?
Is that why he has not been sacked already ? Who really gave the go ahead to issue invitations? Or am I reading too much into this?
