Anyone else excited? ?
I bet that Angela Rayner couldn’t sleep last night!

I assume that she’ll be doing it as Starmer is self isolating (for the sixth time, no less).

Apparently, Johnson is making a statement before PMQs, which is highly unusual.

I wanted to have the day off to watch it. Should I record it or get it on catch up? I'm worried they'll take it off catch up....

Go on! Throw a sickie!
(I know that you don’t need much in the persuasion department)

I think it's a type of firework Whitewavemark2 quite apt really.

What’s a squib?

A firework, I think ?
A damp one won’t do the business

What a complete mess our country is in - a liar and law-breaking PM and an ineffectual Police force. As Alistair Campbell has just said on Sky News, Downing Street has probably the most CCTV cameras of any building in the country; it is also constantly guarded by Police, yet no action was taken by the Police when that party took place. How embarrassing - it will be interesting to see how they try to wriggle out of this without admitting any wrong doing or appearing to be duplicitous.

Yes I did wonder as I wrote it if it was right. I bet I forget next time though.?

Aswell as the two women, wasn't there also another woman dragged off a beach (Brighton maybe?) by police?

I was stopped in the car by the police on the way to pick up my daughter to bring her home but I'd been advised to take paperwork so they just let me go. Her carers were being stopped on the way to work! Weren't we all good? sad the roads were silent for months

Great work! Thanks Lucca
A picnic! ?

Crossed posts Lucca !

I seem to remember the police were very vigilant back then. They issued warnings and in some cases fines to folk walking in pairs in parks carrying coffee cups as “picnics” were against the rules. Yet it seems in a place of heightened security it escaped their notice that 40 people arrived in the no. 10 garden carrying bottles of wine.

Grrr

The Met Police will need to investigate themselves also - they provide 24/7 security at Downing Street- they must have seen what was going on, regular gatherings in the gardens with wine, can't all have been business lunches.

Meanwhile they were watching people with drones, questioning small groups in parks, and moving people on when sitting on a bench.

I remember two young women in Derbyshire being arrested for going for a walk together while drinking take away coffee.
I can’t remember which rule they were supposed to have broken.
I think it might have been travelling too far from home.

The big problem for me is who will replace him. Recently it has been obvious that many cabinet members are distancing themselves from Johnson, but they are all tainted by association, and all supported the corruption and lies - otherwise they would have spoken out just as many now ex-Tories did.

I can’t see why the country should be saddled with yet another supporter of lies and corruption.

Lucca Wed 12-Jan-22 07:40:29

Someone will be along soon to say they’re not bothered about a party there are more important things to worry about ….

I can’t help feeling if the current government’s various weasellings and blunders formed the plot of a TV drama the critics would slam it as unrealistic

Casdon Wed 12-Jan-22 07:38:26

The email from Johnson’s personal private secretary is already leaked, so the evidence is there, and some of the 70 who chose not to attend have confirmed it happened to the press. I don’t think he can wriggle out this time.

They are in the Tory pocket.

This country is in such a poor state.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 12-Jan-22 07:30:58

I wonder what else Cummings has information on? If this doesn’t sink Boris I’m sure there will be something else along soon.

Apparently number 10 staff are being instructed to remove any reference to illegal parties from their phones.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 12-Jan-22 07:23:55

Tbh I think that tact will only make it worse.

Johnson will be cornered eventually, and prolonging the debacle is not sensible.
