Nick Ferrari says he’ll probably issue a statement beforehand saying it’s all under investigation and no rules were broken etc. Then won’t have to answer questions about it. Not that he answers any questions anyway.

I think that Johnson will be going soon anyway.
There must be loads more dirt on him, just waiting to be dished

Mind you I think Rayner is good. But she hasn’t got Starmer’s lethal killer instinct.

Doesn’t look as if he will need it now in any case ?

Casdon

Gosh I wouldn’t Fanny Cornforth, Starmer is excellent at PMQ, I find Rayner gets too angry and loses her questioning abilities.

I actually agree with you now re Starmer.
I think that I’ve got a bit over excited by it all and my judgment has gone out the window.
I did think that he would be absent today. I’m pleased that he isn’t now

This is what I was talking about

Starmer: "somebody here isn't telling the truth. The House will have heard the PMs answer, & I remind him the Ministerial Code says ministers who knowingly mislead parliament will be expected to offer their resignation. I will leave it there, for now"

My god!,

Just read that he may refer everything to the police, which means that he won’t answer questions about it at PMQs.

What an utter rat he is.

So that’s what the statement is about. I did wonder that

FannyCornforth Wed 12-Jan-22 06:16:26

Yes, yes I do remember that!

Starmer is the right one to tackle Johnson.

Do you remember Starmer saying, when asking about illegal parties

“I’ll leave it there ………….for now”

He knows what he’s doing. Didn’t take long did it? He doesn’t make a song and dance about it all like Johnson’s silly and embarrassing rhetoric, but is methodical, competent and quietly deadly.

Angela Rayner is on the Today program this morning

FannyCornforth Wed 12-Jan-22 05:43:25

Thanks Casdon
I would have preferred Rayner to be honest. Didn’t Miliband do them recently too? I thought that he was good too

Casdon Wed 12-Jan-22 05:38:52

Starmer has had Covid himself for the second time, but he is back for PMQs today thankfully, although I’m sure Johnson wouldn’t agree.
It’s hard to see what mitigation Johnson can offer, given that the party was organised by his own principal private secretary in the garden of his home and he and his wife were there. Maybe it was a Bobby Ewing moment.

FannyCornforth Wed 12-Jan-22 05:32:08

A poll that’s being quoted all over the radio reports that 66% of voters think that he should resign.
I can’t see him apologising, I don’t think that he is capable of it

Whitewavemark2 Wed 12-Jan-22 05:27:48

I suspect that he has been forced by the 1922 to apologise.

Mind you if he does that means he took part in an illegal gathering at least once, which means that past ministers with honour and integrity have resigned. The police should then look at the matter - not that they will do anything, being in the Tory pocket.

So perhaps he won’t apologise? ?

FannyCornforth Wed 12-Jan-22 05:21:05

Anyone else excited? ?
I bet that Angela Rayner couldn’t sleep last night!

I assume that she’ll be doing it as Starmer is self isolating (for the sixth time, no less).

Apparently, Johnson is making a statement before PMQs, which is highly unusual.
