More No.10 parties

I’m utterly sick of hearing “how hard we worked” as though the medics, retail workers, carers, delivery drivers, factory workers etc. weren’t working very hard too.
Most were too drained and exhausted after a shift for any partying - simply collapsing into bed for some sleep. As for Johnson, he has never worked hard and needs holidays every few weeks …..

Wondering what the party situation is like when the country is not in a state of emergency and the evening before the burial of a senior royal?

How kind you all are sympathsizing with the Prime Minister's staff about the difficulties of working for a pathalogical liar!

My standpoint is quite different. If his staff is made up of honourable, decent men and women, why have they not handed in their resignations long ago?

They must know what he is like, and that what they were doing was in direct contravention to the restrictions in place at the time.

So why are they all still working at No. 10 Downing st?

Unforgivable on so many levels. How can anyone defend such behaviour? If I had been employed at Downing Street I would have created such a fuss over all the law breaking. No integrity and no morals required if you want a job in Downing Street from top level civil servants to the police to the cleaning staff. Just wish the cat could speak!

I find it hard to believe that the Downing Street group are there with horns and pitchforks, while everyone else are sweetly polishing their halos, or is it just that non 10ers are just not headline news? Coronavirus has been awful for everyone, and the Media, all of them, have just made a bad situation worse by their selective reporting.

I think you can be assured that if there had been any parties held by the opposition, the popular press would have been delighted to share it with everyone. Remember the drama about Jeremy Corbyn attending a dinner party with 8 guests rather than the permitted 6?

There are photos online of Mr. Starmer at a drinks party in Durham and Mr. Corbyn at a dinner party both against the Covid rules at the time. Rules the Labour Party voted for.

Oh yes and remember the massive drama when Abbott was shown in a photo sat on a train in her own time drinking a mojito?

She and Johnson have no control over their staff or, quite honestly, anything.

There is another viewpoint that we did not need all the restrictions put into place - they were there to frighten the public into submission. If Whitehall and the Government were aware of this maybe that is why they felt free to break the rules. I don’t know this, just wondering out loud from other reports. Still shouldn’t have happened.

Some Tory MP’s have eluded to this. The ones that don’t seem to want any restrictions that might safeguard peoples health. You know, the ones that weren’t wearing masks in parliament (actually, that was pretty much the whole of the government benches till recently wasn’t it). It’s also being picked up by all sort of conspiracy theorists and anti vacc’ers.

What’s your definition of a drinks party MayBee70? I always thought it was a pre organised by invitation event. Regardless, as I said in my original post, they were all in the wrong.

Boris mixing outdoors n now it seems Starmer mixing indoors which one is more likely to spread Covid. I too lost family to Covid along with 3 good friends. I’m currently recovering from Covid which hasn’t been pleasant but thankful I’ve been vaccinated as felt I could have suffered much more at least should be thankful our country had the vaccine

It's not that I don't think they should be leaked it's the timing? What underlying strategy does someone/some group have?
Boris should fall on his sword. It's already past time for that to be the honourable thing to do but modern politicians don't seem to be honourable.

No mitigation from me, just pointing out that MPs from both side of the house think the rules do not apply to them.

Mr. Johnson is on borrowed time, but I would still like to see a thorough investigation into the events at No.10 by an impartial party

My daughter reads me tweets by 'Larry the Cat' who I understand is the Downing street cat! They are hilarious.
