Absolutely raging!! To be setting rules for the whole country to follow, these brain-dead waste of space people who should be setting examples are intent in doing what they want to do!! I was brought up to lead by example! I would get rid of every one of them, without out their bonuses and perks, learn to live like many of us have to and struggle!! Rant over!!?

He categorically denied that it was a party stating that the garden was used as an outdoor office particularly so because of Covid and if security footage was watched for week or so prior to the published image would confirm this.
This, if genuine is quite magnanimous of Cummins considering his previous back stabbing.

I think he is just covering himself, as he's in the photo (the garden one). But if it's an outdoor office gathering (ie they are working in the garden) then why on earth is Carrie there with the baby?

Just read that Sajid Javids brother Bas is Deputy Assistant Commissioner with the Metropolitan Police. I assume that wouldn’t affect the result of any investigations into the governments activities?

Dinahmo I do not agree that majority of the press are Tory supporters! Try listening to anything coming from BBC & Sky. They continually run down the government & it would be no different who was in power! I have a friend who’s husband is wound up all the time by the reports from BBC & Sky. He does hate everything Tory & worships anything Labour! His choice as we all have our own choices but it just gets sad listening to him ranting on all the time about Tory corruption fuelled by a lot of the Media. There is more to life than this is what I am trying to say & we have to get a balance between what is said by different sides with different agendas! New Year New Start please? Murdoch is or was a Johnson supporter so if Sky News has changed its tune then Murdoch must have gone off him.

The corruption is not fueled by the media, it's fueled by politicians who think that they can do what they want. It wasn't the media who set up the VIP channel so that their cronies could be fast tracked to getting contracts for PPE etc.

I for one will not "get over it" and I suspect many like minded people won't either. I/we want everyone to remember all the corruption and lies when the next GE happens.

I heard someone talking on the radio about Johnson's time at the Spectator. Apparently there were open wine bottles on all the desks, cocaine everywhere and the workers sh--ging all over the place. Possibly a slight exaggeration!

Sillynanny Apart from two papers, the Guardian and Mirror the rest of the British national press is Tory. I don’t have Sky but almost certainly they are right wing too. As has been said Murdoch was always close with Boris Johnson.
As for BBC because of the way they are funded they must be impartial.
The running down of the government by all is because their behaviour has warranted it. Far too much to ignore.

The majority of these ‘parties’ were not attended by BJ. They were solely Civil Servants working at No.10/11.
The political inclinations of these employees could well mean that they are maliciously conspiring to disrupting democratic governance.
Rather than hanging BJ out to dry the Head of the Cabinet office should be held responsible for his staff.
According to the Cummins testimony BJ was not initially at the table in the published image. He wandered out much later followed by Carrie. They remained for around 25 mins.
BJ was at Chequers when the leaving parties took place. So realistically it is the Head of the Cabinet office that should be being hounded.

It's really not conceivable that Johnson didn't realise that these gatherings (whatever they were) were happening. By his own admission, he attended at least one of them. Why was Carrie there, if they were work meetings? Why was he "wandering around" when it would have been far safer for him to have kept his distance from everybody? Why did he say he should have told people to go inside?

He was ultimately responsible for writing the rules and he should have had some understanding of the principles behind them. He must have known that they would cause hardship to many and should have been prepared to put up with some hardship himself.

No, he sounds like he's desperately trying to find excuses. He's like a squirming child who's been found out and making up ridiculous excuses - and blaming others.

How about the people who were fined appeal against their fines and Johnson volunteers to be an expert witness for those who were fined?

Joelsnan, it is Boris who sets the tone of how the government is run, including how No 10 staff behave. They obviously thought that to party in the garden wouldn’t be frowned on by the PM, indeed he joined in, albeit for 25 minutes. BJ should resign. In my opinion he is just an Eton educated Trump and the sooner he goes the better.

The number of daily reported deaths due to Covid are now similar to Feb 2021, and in my own county the rates are the highest ever reported. Not quite out of the woods yet CarlyD7.

I appreciate that the number of deaths is an emotive subject, but I think its important to get the numbers right.

Just now, an average of about 210 people are dying every day.

A year ago, on January 14th 2021, 1,227 people died. We are in a much, much better position now that we were a year ago.

Well, given that most of us have been vaccinated you would hope that is the case. However I’ve had two messages today, one warning me that many local buses aren’t running due to staff sickness and another from the police asking people not to ask to see their GP unless it’s absolutely necessary because the surgeries are also suffering from staff shortages.

The worst thing is she has to run her report past her boss before it is publicised, , (if it is, ) but her boss is the person central to the whole thing, so much for independence.
