*Why* is the media hanging onto Cummings every word?

Just that really. Scummings is not to be trusted. Broke rules himself.

Why is he now heading the mob rule out to get Boris? Don't get me wrong, I think BJ is a t**t. But Cummings is just as bad, if not worse.

I seem to remember that back at the time of the Barnard Castle fiasco, quite a number of Gransnetters were convinced that the only reason that Cummings was not dismissed there and then was because he had too much dirt on Boris. He knew where the bodies were buried, so to speak, and Boris dare not risk it.

I thought they were probably right back then, and still do.

Yes, Cummings is a weasel, but Boris is a weak, self-serving liar, who clearly had things to hide.

Quite frankly, it doesn't bother me one bit that the person now revealing Johnson's misdemeanors is another liar. Just as long as the accusations can be proved true, I don't care who they have come from.

Iam64 Tue 25-Jan-22 13:45:24

You’re correct SaraC - another reason he’ll be back is because Johnson isn’t the only one that Cummings holds power over

I would add that I think Cummings is determined to pay Carrie back for meddling.

I think Cummings will attempt to secure another ‘Special’ role in the Government once Johnson has gone. It is alleged that he’s getting closer to Javid (presumably having calculated that he is the most likely candidate for the PM’s job) Part of the scam is that, by leaking information about a few of Johnson’s misdemeanours (and providing ‘evidence’ of advising him against rule breaking) he can attempt to promote himself as a moral paragon. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Cummings - he has knowledge and skills which will be badly needed by the Government to weather the economic and political storms ahead…

I agree. I wonder what he's got on Javid.

Question... Has he now got a job? Or is he just loading the Gun for the media?

Thanks for answer.. I didn't know that.

When Cummings offended he was the first to break the rules - they now fade almost into insignificance compared to Boris. Not just the many parties but the lack of a face mask in Hospitals & other places, etc, etc. Cummings never put anyone at risk & we now know his family were being threatened, so hardly surprising he wanted to get them to safety. His hasty exit was apparently after Carrie had “ laid into him “ & caused a lot of trouble. Having seen part of a long interview with Cummings I’d certainly trust him more than Boris, with those shifty eyes & guilty grin. Always grinning, ugh.

MissAdventure Tue 25-Jan-22 15:07:23

Oh poor Cummings.
My heart breaks for him.

I had a dream about Cummings last night.
He was trying to poison me with a sort of magic potion.
Sarah Vine was there too.
We were in my old school sports hall.
Someone had put a load of gravy and leftovers in my handbag, so I couldn’t find my phone to call 999?

FannyCornforth this did make me laugh… ?

I’m afraid Cummings was not the first to break lockdown rules.
That would be Professor Neil Ferguson, the person who ‘modelled’ the figures that said if we didn’t have a strict lockdown 500,000 people would die
Then proceeded to invite his married lover to his flat for some afternoon rumpy pumpy on the 30th of March

katy1950 Tue 25-Jan-22 16:44:12

I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of his mouth nothing worse than an adviser scorned

GrammarGrandma Tue 25-Jan-22 18:00:10

I don't see a problem. Cummings was a squirming, lying mess when trying to defend the indefensible = his trip to Durham/Barnard Castle. Now he is talking about BJ and he has no reason to lie. He knows where the bodies are buried and his has all the information, emails, photos to release at whatever rate he likes to get his revenge on his old boss. Didn't he tell Johnson, "if I ever brief against you, you will f-----g know it"?

sarahcyn Tue 25-Jan-22 18:07:22

Cummings is a walking ego trying to destabilise an elected government, unseat an elected PM out of pure personal spite - all of which would be almost OK if he and the rebel Tories had the foggiest plan of who they want to lead instead.

MaizieD Tue 25-Jan-22 18:27:52

Sorry, Joplin, Cummings' family wasn't being threatened. He claimed they were being besieged by the press, but in April 2020, when he made his little trip, no-one was much interested in him. He wasn't newsworthy. It was just one of his little exculpatory lies.

It was only after the news of his covid rule breaking trip broke that he was besieged by the press (as was his family up here in the NE)

stewaris Tue 25-Jan-22 18:42:41

It will be interesting to see if anyone will employ such a despicable person and, no, I'm not a fan of BJ.

I still don't understand how he got away with saying he drove to Barnard Castle to test his eyes. Surely, he should have been charged with careless/dangerous driving if he was admitting to not being sure of his eyesight.

MaizieD Tue 25-Jan-22 18:46:42

Cummings' declared objective is to completely destroy the current system of government and replace it with something data and technology driven, controlled by some sort of high tech 'elite and preferably peopled by automatons at the lower end. This is why disruption and complete disregard for any rules, customs or culture are what he is after. He is a revolutionary.

He's not in the slightest bit interested in being liked, either.

I'm not sure what purpose his revolution would serve. He's certainly not interested in the wellbeing of the nation's citizens.

To quote a tennis player - you can’t be serious.

Ferguson spent an afternoon with his lover. Bit different than 17 get together in number 10, with many more people assembled.

Cummings has a chip on his shoulder as big as a boulder. Would treat anything he says with a pinch of salt as he is out to get revenge, maybe because he knew he had to go before he was pushed.

growstuff Wed 26-Jan-22 01:16:45

Ferguson did break the rules, apologised and resigned from SAGE. In his mind, he had already had Covid and thought he would be immune. His reputation suffered a big blow on top of all the Professor Lockdown taunts he was having thrown at him. Who knows whether there would have been 500,000 deaths, if there hadn't been a lockdown? Maybe there would have been. At the time, the number of deaths was rising exponentially and doubling every 2 or 3 days. Vaccines weren't even on the horizon.

It really is a bit childish to claim that because somebody has done something wrong (especially of the smirkable rumpy pumpy sort, so beloved of tabloids), he should have that thrown at him forever more ... maybe the pandemic has brought out the inner child in some.

Amazing how people forget that Boris backed him over barnard castle….
