My apologies, Alegrias1! I hadn't realised you were actually congratulating me on being smart, when you accused me (in another recent thread) of being sarcastic. I shall do my best to live up to it...

It's appalling. The report should be published without redactions now. Otherwise most people will think it is a stitch up. Kicking something into the long grass is an old ploy but an effective one. The public get bored waiting. Even Channel 4 News tonight gave it little coverage.

The police wouldn't entertain investigating these incidents initially, saying they could not investigate retrospective breaches. Then, some months later, they said they would be investigating but there was no problem with the Sue Gray investigation going ahead. Now, at the last minute, they say the civil service report should not give specific details of any of the alleged incidents. Before Ed Davey said it, I said to myself "stitch up". What is the good of a report with lots of information removed and how long will the police investigation take?

I think Cressida Dick has been shown to be incapable of doing her job properly, not just in this respect but because of a number of scandals and her inability to address issues properly.
